Name Drop Corner-Bill Clinton and Mick Jagger At The World Cup In South Africa

Matt Clifford With Bill Clinton At The World Cup (Jagger just out of the picture!!)

Matt Clifford With Bill Clinton At The World Cup (Jagger just out of the picture!!)

The LMM office is full of name droppers.

Alex in the LMM office has hosted the Camelot Buildings (where the LMM London Office is situated) Xmas Party for a number of years. He would get up on stage and MC,give out funny awards to employee of the year, crack some jokes and generally mess around.Often an unassuming keyboard player would join in and play some music for him to goof around to.

Because the Camelot buildings is a hub for music studios and media based businesses the party would attract one or two celebs and acts like The Shapeshifters would DJ.The keyboard player would be part of a band that would play some great tunes for people to dance to.

Fast forward a few years and Al is watching the World Cup on telly and Matt Clifford (for that was the keyboard players name) is there on the TV screen at the USA V Ghana game with Bill Clinton-High Fiving!!

Then Mick Jagger from The Rolling Stones pops onto the screen.

Turns out Matt Clifford is occasional keyboard player for The Rolling Stones and he has done a video blog from South Africa which features the view of the game from Mick Jaggers box.Fantastic but true.

    Mattonick -Great Party Band

    Mattonick -Great Party Band

We often recieve feedback from clients and report the testimonials on our blog or in the main body of our website www.lmmuk.com

What we don’t put on the blog very often is the emails we receive from our great bands and DJs who often email or call to tell us how the gigs went. This email is from Matonick http://www.lmmuk.com/band/Matonick  who are a great all round party band suitable fo weddings and events but also able to bring the house down at Nightclubs and City Centre Bars.

Just want to report back on 2 Walkabout gigs. Temple was fantastic following the Spain victory. It was rammed with Spanish and was great fun. (We did this with our regular guitarist Dan).

Shepherds Bush was great too, although not as busy as last year (This one was with our other guitarist, Jon). Deano said it was due to the weather and the World Cup finals the next day that it wasn’t so busy it was still a great atmoshpere. Still, it was great fun and I’ve got some good footage.

We received good feedback from the crowd and Deano and Dave.

We recently recieved a couple of emails from clients and the venues regarding the DJs supplyed for two events.I have copied and pasted them below.

“Also, our wedding disco would never be the same without Garth, who prepared all the music we requested (and it was a lot!), and then mixed it all in an amazing style!!! Garth, some of our friends who never dance were seen on the dance floor until 1.30am!”

    Client June Wedding

I got really nice feedback from the bride and groom from 3rd July!! They were very happy with everything, thanks again as always!!

Pluck -Classical Humourists at the Edinburgh Festival

    Monday, July 5th, 2010
    Pluck At The Gilded Balloon

    Pluck At The Gilded Balloon

Looking for a different classical act for an event or party?

An act that combines great classical music with humour and theatrics?

    Take a look here http://www.lmmuk.com/band/Pluck+

Pluck are about to play some dates at the EdinburghFringe (their sixth year of appearing) They will be at the Gilded Balloon,Bristo Square at 5pm every night from 5pm between Aug 19 and 29.Tickets are available online here http://gildedballoon.co.uk/tickets/performances.php?eventId=14:172&dm_i=7AO,6W6U,WE4M3,H1IA,1

MUSICAL ARSON: REIGNITED! is a raucous revamp of Pluck’s original hit show, directed by the Olivier Award-winning Toby Sedgwick (War Horse) and John Fealey, which previously earned them the Tap Water Award for Cabaret (2003) and the Spirit of the Fringe (2004).

One pregnancy, one departure and multiple breakdowns on the M6 later, Pluck’s brand new lineup return with their original hit show, revamped and reignited! Also now featuring additional material from renowned director Cal McCrystal (Cirque du Soleil, the Mighty Boosh).

Pluck wreak havoc between the harmonies as they compete, ridicule, argue and seduce their way through the classical and the contemporary in the show that has wowed audiences across the world since 2003, from a funeral for a violin to a hare-brained history of audio equipment. Bring the family and join them for an evening of totally unpredictable Musical Arson!

    Musicians Joke Part Two

    Monday, July 5th, 2010
    Another unfunny muso joke!!

    Another unfunny muso joke!!

Okay so this musician lives the life of Riley and finds himself in hell when he dies.

The devil meets him upon arrival and takes him around to show him the sites.

“The first thing you will want to know is that we have a great band down here and as a fantastic guitarist you will be expected to play.We have John Lennon on rhythm guitar,Hendrix on lead,we’ve got Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin on vocals,Keith Moon on drums,Kurt Cobain playing along. From the jazz world we have Miles Davis on trumpet,Charlie Parker on sax,John Coltrane on Sax,Thelonious Monk playing keyboards. The classical guys are all here as well…we got Mozart conducting!!!

You are going to love it…..rehearsals are all day monday to Friday with public perfomances throughout the weekend.”

“Wow” says the recently deceased muso,”this sounds great….whats the catch?”

The devil looks him in the eye and says “the setlist consists of just the one song….The Birdy Song….welcome to hell!”

    Musicians Jokes Part 1

    Thursday, July 1st, 2010
Bad Jokes Don't Have To Be Filthy!!

Bad Jokes Don't Have To Be Filthy!!

Most of the musicians I know have a great sense of humour and if you get them in the pub you are going to hear some wild and wonderful war stories of gigs played and places visited.

However the wit and wonder of the Muso does not extend to “the musicians joke” some of the worst (clean) examples I have outlined below. My apologies in advance to fans of humour.

    Joke one

q.What do you call a bloke who hangs around bands.

    a.A drummer

    Joke Two

q.Whats the difference between a musician and a savings bond

a.eventually a savings bond will mature and earn some money

    Joke three

Explorers in the jungle hear the beating of drums which cary on for hours and hours. One of them says “I cant stand this any longer.whens it going to stop?”

The other says “Its fine while ever the drums are beating the worst is when they finish.”

    “Whys that then?”

“Because after the drums comes the bass solo!”

    Joke Four

q.What do you throw to a drowning bass player?

    a.His amp!

    Joke Five

q.How many drummers does it take to change a light bulb?

a.At least three…..one to actualy change the bulb and the rest to discuss how Steve Gadd (legendary session drummer) would have done it.
