Austrlalia Day-The Start Of The Night

Austrlalia Dayple-The Start Of The Night

This will be my final blog about Australia Day 2011 but I am using it as an excuse to remind people of the Australian Flood Appeal event we have running tomorrow at Shepherds Bush Walkabout. This is an all day event and doors open at 12 midday. Its an opportunity to see some of the best live talent in London and also to raise some money for the victims of the floods down under…in the meantime heres DJ Yaxs report back from the Australia Day celebrations….could he be more Australian!!

“G’day! My Best mate Bluey and I celebrated Australia Day in Style at the Temple Walkabout. The holy grail of Australiana on Australia Day! Bluey got a bit wild so we called it a night shy of midnight. His celing jumps were attracting quite a bit attention and they were plenty of candid moments. Hope ya all enjoyed Aussie Day as much as Bluey and I!
Best Regards Always. Yax Man & Bluey.”

Friday, January 28th, 2011

Just been listening to the new(ish) Kings Of Leon Tribute before work this morning and then lo and behold Taper Girl came on random shuffle on the Ipod just as I walked into the office so it must be a Kings Of Leon kind of day (very few days aren’t.)

So I took this opportunity to post a bit of live video of our Kings Of Leon tribute in action. You can see why this Kings Of Leon tribute are the only ones endorsed by the Kings Of Leon themselves.

Enjoy

Australian Flood Appeal Jan 29 2011

Australian Flood Appeal Jan 29 2011

Feedback from DJ Yax who went last night to Temple Walkabout for a night out where the party for Australia Day was huge…..I have just copied and pasted Yaxs text message to us because the excitement leaps off the page.

Yax obviously had a brilliant time last night and we hope that all our acts enjoyed the night. We are getting great feedback from both venues and artists saying what a brilliant night it was.

Don’t forget the Australian Flood Appeal at Shepherds Bush Walkabout this Saturday.

“Mate. I’ve just risen from the bed after having the most epic Aussie Day at Temple as a punter ever! It was all time! Big Deano smashed it mate! Played all the sing a long Aussie songs that weren’t but should’ve been played in previous years at the Temple. There were quite a good few older Aussies there who stayed on longer singing along to the stuff we grew up on! I had a blast but left shy of midnight when I started to get a bit messy! Was pretty wild on the dance floor if you know what I mean. Bluey was attracting a lot of  attention! I had to get out of there when i couldn’t control myself with all sorts of shananigans happening! But people of all ages were singing so loud & proud & the two bands were also Excellent! Congrats LLM you guys rocked Temple on 1 of the biggest most important days of the year! Deano got a 9 from me! Awesome!”

Australia Day 2011

Australia Day 2011

As many regular readers will know LMM have long connections with Australia and we have been booking Australia Day events in the UK for over twelve years.Back in the late 90s when we first started booking Australia Day parties with live music and DJs in the Walkabout bars (at the time there were just a handful of Walkabouts based in London) the audience were always homesick Aussies and the celebration was not widely known outside the Aussie ex pat community.

Well quite a lot has changed in the last ten years.

Australia Day has assumed the status of a mini St Patricks Day with many people who only have a tenuous connection with Australia joining in the celebrations which they have learned about back packing or through their many Aussie mates based in the UK for work or University reasons. The success and nationwide spread of the Walkabout chain has greatly helped this and we are aware of many people who go to the Australia Day night in their local town just because they are aware of it through the Aussie staff in their local Walkabout.

Anyway much like on St Pats day when everyone becomes an honorary Irishman and we all drink guinness and dance to jogs and reels tomorrow is a day for donning the Aussie face paint, draping yourself in an Aussie flag, grabbing a Crownie or a VB or a Fosters and partying to the sounds of a great live band or DJ in the Walkabout.

Shepherds Bush Walkabout and Temple are the epi centres of the celebration and you can expect both venues to be busy from mid day with live bands all day but we have events in all the Walkabout venues so check http://www.walkabout.eu.com/  for details.

Blue Mondays Made Brighter

Monday, January 24th, 2011

Apparently last Monday was Blue Monday (statistically the day of the year when most people are likely to experience a degree of depression.)

This is scientifically dubious as the stats don’t add up and the research was funded and publicised by a travel company who want to sell holidays on the first pay run after Christmas but there is no doubt that none of us like Mondays and winter Mondays are particularly bad.

Anyway what I am leading to here is that Alex was bright and breezy this morning in the LMM office because he had a thank you card from a client through the post. The gist of the card was to say thanks to Alex for his good advice on recommending a great band for this Lady’s wedding. She had called for advice about a particular band and Alex had steered her towards After Dark as they better suited her brief. That was nearly twelve months ago but with the wedding now in the past and the honeymoon complete this lady has taken time to write a card and send it to Alex which in turn has made his Blue Monday a whole lot brighter…..it also put a smile on my face!

If you still feel a bit blue this Monday morning watch the After Dark video at the head of this page for guaranteed smiles.

Brainscape Live At Sheffield Walkabout

Friday, January 21st, 2011

While the boys from Brainscape take a well deserved rest back in their native Brazil LMM thought we would take this opportunity to pay homage to this great band.

Since first working for LMM several years ago they have gone from strength to strength and they are a band who gain fans at every venue they play.

They arrive back in the UK next week and will be ready to rock the nation again with their mixed set list which extends from awesome versions of pop and rock tunes like the version of Blink 182 “All The Small Things “, caught on the mobile phone video, above to funky party songs.

We have sent this great band to so many shows where the client and/or venue have asked for them back.

At LMM we really rate this band….listen to the way they go into the Shania Twain song in the video above..tease the audience…and then go into a rocked up version of “livin On A Prayer” …sheer genius!  Watch the video above for great versions of Queen songs etc and remember this is just a video taken on a mobile phone by the DJ at the Sheffield Walkabout. He does a great job but he is not the BBC outside broadcast unit with fancy equipment….this is raw and live…undoctored and brilliant.

To book Brainscape either call the LMM office or email info@lmmuk.com    To browse their web page check out Brainscape here or browse the rock and pop section of the LMM site for more options on great live bands to hire

You can see great live bands at the Walkabout in Sheffield every Saturday night where DJ Lenny Sultana spins the records and the bands get the place rocking….if you are ever in Sheffield call in for a great night out.A great band and a great DJ..what more could you want?

The Stones-Are these Guys The Best Tribute In The UK?

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

I have blogged before about seeing The Stones for the first time at the Winding Wheel in Chesterfield and how astonished I was by the close likeness and sound of this great tribute band to the original Rolling Stones.

There are many tributes who are able to offer a quality xerox of the original but one of the things I found most impressive about The Stones is that the Mick Jagger is able to play the part without dropping too far into parody. It’s pretty easy to stick your hips out and wave your arms around and pretend that you are Jagger but a whole different thing to act the part and become the man himself.

If you have any interest in the Rolling Stones I would ask you to watch the video above. If you are looking to hire a Rolling Stones tribute I would suggest that you look no further.Call the LMM office or email info@lmmuk.com for booking details and prices.

Watching the Stones live is a must if you are a fan of the original and a hugely entertaining night out for anybody with an interest in 60s music.Check here for a full review of The Stones in concert http://www.lmmuk.com/agentblog/?p=632

DJ Marc Allen Gets Dressed Up For Work!

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011
DJ Marc Allen As Freddie Kruger

DJ Marc Allen As Freddie Kruger

Carlisle Walkabout have a great team which includes DJ Marc Allen.

Marc has a background in the theatre and (rumour has it) appearances on TV so when the occasion calls for it he is the first to dip into the dressing up box and come out with some great costumes.Indeed much like Mr Ben from the kids TV series of the 1970s Marc has a relationship with a fancy dress shop where he can pop in and come out dressed in character ready for whatever theme night we choose to run at Walkabout Carlisle.

The photo at the top of the page was, obviously, from Halloween. But what about the night they ran a Rocky Horror Show theme down there?

DJ Dressed as Franken Furter Riding A Harley Davidson

DJ Dressed as Franken Furter Riding A Harley Davidson

Marc got dressed up as Franken Furter from the Rocky Horror Show and rode his Harley Davidson through the venue to the sounds of The Time Warp!

We have several other examples of DJ Marc dressed in costume for themed events. The main thing to remember though is he is not just a nut case who likes dressing up….He’s a nut case who is also a great DJand a dedicated member of the LMM team and of the team at Carlisle Walkabout.

Further pics will follow soon.

High Tech Karaoke Band

High Tech Live Karaoke Band

High Tech Live Karaoke Band

Many of our regular readers will know that LMM were the originators of the Live karaoke band craze in the UK (also known as Rockaoke or Bandeoke) when nearly ten years ago we were tasked by the manager of Glasgow Walkabout to find a “cool” alternative to the Karaoke which was being offered by other bars in the town.

Of course in the years that have passed since then we have supplied bandeoke (aka rockaoke or bandaoke or punk rock karaoke or live band karaoke or whatever else you want to call it!) karaoke bands to events throughout the world. We have had brides and grooms enjoying the opportunity of singing with a live band whilst brides maids and wedding guests sing along. We have had senior corporate directors up on stage rocking out with the accounts department on backing vocals. We’ve had festival audiences queuing for the chance of singing with our hip and happening karaoke bands and student medics falling over themselves in the rush to get on the stage. On top of this our karaoke bands have been used to launch some fantastic products (not least the Wii sing games.)

We are now proud to offer the best High Tech Karaoke Band. That is a live karaoke band where the words appear on a tele prompter style screen (like they do at a karaoke night) but the band are still playing a live set. This is not just a band playing along with karaoke backing tracks like some acts which offer a similiar product but a real live karaoke band experience to match the other fantastic bands that we offer.

If you are looking for a quality live karaoke band then we are still the best place to come to ensure highest quality at best price with a company that offers secure contracting and online secure payments.
