The Foo Fighters played a secret show at Camden Dingwalls on Saturday Feb 26 2011.It was the second time that this awesome band have graced the Dingwalls stage.

Regualar readers will be aware that LMM supply DJs and sound engineers to this heritage venue.

Saturdays show was an up close and personal set where the band played for two and half hours in a packed venue. It was rock and roll heaven for the fans and industry insiders in attendance.

Our guy Deano was booked to DJ at the after show party and he mingled with the great and the good back stage at this historic venue.

Talking to Dave Grohl Deano displayed his customary wit in pretending he didnt know any of the bands songs. He asked Dave Grpohl why the Foo Fighters hadn’t played their biggest hit “Sweet Child Of Mine” and when Dave looked non plussed and carefully explained that this was a Guns N Roses track Deano then said,” You didnt play Livin On A Prayer either!” At which Dave Grohl realised he was being spoofed and started laughing.Apparently Dave Grohl was such a nice guy that he agreed to take the photo of Deano with Queens Roger Taylor which is at the top of this blog.

Deano chatted to the rest of the Foos and saw Matt Bellamy from Muse amongst others in the back stage area.

Reports from the gig itself?

Apparently they played a storming set and the 500 or so people who saw the show were blown away by a band at the peak of their powers.

Record Store Day 2011

Record Store Day 2011

LMM support International Record Store Day http://www.recordstoreday.com/Home which is on April 16 2011 (see our blogs about previous record store days  http://www.lmmuk.com/agentblog/?p=1058 and http://www.lmmuk.com/agentblog/?p=108 ) and we are happy to endorse any great store which continues to trade in difficult circumstances to sell the music that we all love.

What is record store day?

Record Store Day is an international event which helps to celebrate the independant record stores throughout the world that eat, sleep and breathe music. The kind of places that you can enter to browse and leave with an armful of CDs that you will cherish for years to come.

At LMM music is a central force in our lives and continues to be a passion for our team so whether we are talking about shops specialising in dance music vinyl, dusty old records, classic rock or indie CDS or classical music we would like to add our voice to the campaign to help keep our record stores alive.

 When is record store day?

April 16 2011….it is usually on one of the Saturdays in April

It Don’t Mean A Thing-If It Ain’t Got That Swing

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

When the Football Association came to LMM a few years ago wanting a great dinner jazz band for their annual dinner to be held over in Portugal we suggested Powder Jazz without any hesitation.

When the Labour Party were looking for a jazz swing band for their sports fund raiser (to be held in the, then, new Wembley Stadium) we put forward Powder Jazz (and we must have done something right as they were rebooked by Gordon Brown the very next year.)Both Gordon Brown and Tony Blaire attended this function and a host of sporting stars and celebrities like the Bee Gees were in attendance to enjoy Powders blend of sweet jazz sounds.

Powder have played at hundreds of top quality events for clients such as Marks And Spencers and Orange Phones. They are in demand as one of the very best bands for weddings and parties.

If you are looking for background music for a dinner or just a great swing jazz band for a wedding then Powder are your boys…a band full of enthusiasts who love the music they play and are nice guys to boot!

For quotes on this great jazz swing band call the LMM office or email info@lmmuk.com   we still have some availability for key dates in 2011.

LMM Team Attend Tinie Tempah Brits After Show Party

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011
LMM Director with Shayne Ward At The Brits After Show

LMM Director with Shayne Ward At The Brits After Show

LMM attended the Tinie Tempah Brits after show party at Floridata last night.Big thanks to DJ West Taylor for organising this and being nice enough to make the call to invite us.

We got VIP treatment and access all areas which led to us hobb nobbing it with the stars behind the black net curtain which seperated the great from the nearly great, the wannabees from the never will bes.

Myself and Alex took up pole position on a large couch in the middle of the VIP area which led to quite a few lengthy stares from people trying to work out who the hell we were .We should have had signs saying “we are nobodies” but that might have stopped attractive women from coming over and offering us free drinks.

Anway it must have been an exciting night for Tinie Tempah with him winning two Brits and performing a storming set piece at the end of the night.

In Floridata we had several RNB acts on stage performing many of them were introduced byPeter Dickson  the voice over man from X Factor.Back in the VIP area Duncan Bannatyne from Dragons Den stopped for a chat (some years ago LMM supplied the DJ for his wedding) and Shayne Ward had a little chin wag with the LMM team.

So again thanks very much to West Taylor for organising this night for us.It was a great experience.

Status Cymbal Classical Newsletter

Status Cymbal Classical Ensemble

Status Cymbal Classical Ensemble

The Status Cymbal Strings are one of our favourite classical acts .You can hear samples of their work here http://www.lmmuk.com/band/Status+Cymbal+String+Quartet  but we thought you would like to read the newsletter which they put out from time to time with the exciting news of their many engagements.

“The number of weddings at which we have performed has now reached the 1.350 mark and this year included ceremonies for a member of the England football team and a post-wedding reception for a descendant of the last Tsar of Russia.

Our appearances at prestigious sporting venues continued, with a function for the Welsh Rugby Union team at Twickenham, performances at several prominent racecourses including the July meeting at Newmarket; where we were filmed by the Channel 4 live racing team.

Alongside this we gave a number of recitals, including our now regular entertainment for holiday clients of SAGA, played at many Bollywood occasions and corporate events at top venues including Cliveden, the London Hilton and the Foreign Office.

Our repertoire continues to go from strength to strength, incorporating an unrivalled collection of both standards and contemporary popular hits, and is continuing to evolve to keep pace with the latest musical trends. Recently our main arranger, viola player Paul Appleyard, was asked by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, to expand many of his arrangements for orchestral use.”

Its a pretty impressive CV and if you would like to book this great act for your wedding, reception or party then please call the LMM office or email info@lmmuk.com
