lake district weddings

The Lake District is such a beautiful part of the UK it is little wonder that it is a popular destination for weddings. Situated within easy reach of Manchester, Yorkshire and towns like Lancaster and Carlisle Live Music Management get regular calls from clients holding weddings in the  Lake District.

Live Music Management have a great many bands and Mobile djs who live within  travelling distance  of the Lake District and over the course of the year we usually book entertainment into around fifty weddings in the Lake District. There are some great venues in the Lakes and Live Music Management bands have played many of them. Obviously it is not essential that the band you book for your wedding has played the wedding venue before but it is an advantage if they have played the venue before. They will know much about the load in, the power points , where to set up etc and will be able to get set up with minimal distraction.

If you are looking for bands for hire in Cumbria   and bands from Lancaster for your Lake District wedding then Live Music Management can suggest the most suitable act. We also have a number of wedding bands in Manchester   and bands in Chester that often travel up to the Lake District for weddings, events and parties. If you call the Live Music Management office or drop us an email with the date of your event we can recommend the band which will be best for your event. Especially if you are able to give us details of the kind of band you are looking for (ie jazz band or funky disco band etc etc)

Live Music Management have almost fifteen years experience of booking bands into weddings in the Lake District and in this time we have identified the very best acts from the region and the cream of the talent who are happy to travel to the Lakes. You can rely on our team of experts to point you in the direction of the best bands of all descriptions. Weddings in Lake District are so easy to plan when you have a company with some local knowledge available to help you. Call on 08454 900515 or email info@lmmuk.com for details.

London wedding venue

London wedding venue

Live Music Management have maintained offices in London for over fourteen years. We began our business as the supplier to the Walkabout venues which at the time had just begun expanding their chain of Australasian themed bars outside of London. We continue to supply the Walkabout venues with their entertainment (bands and DJs) all these years later .

Walkabout continues to be one of the prime movers on the London entertainment scene with the Walkabout venues and with venues like the iconic live band venue Dingwalls under the same ownership. Over ten years ago Live Music Management used our expertise in the live music circuit in London in order to begin servicing other corporate  clients and individual wedding clients. What does this mean for anyone considering booking London Wedding Entertainment ?

Live Music Management have over a decades experience auditioning London Wedding Bands and London Wedding DJs . Our office team have hand picked the very best in London party bands for our roster. We know our acts and are able to identify the right act for the each brief. We know the acts that will create the best party atmosphere . We also know the London Jazz bands that will be best as background music and the London swing bands that will offer the best up tempo swing set.

Amongst our team of London wedding entertainers there are musicians who have played with some of the worlds leading acts. In London wedding bands Sugar Shack’s line up  alone  there are musicians who have played alongside Rod Stewart, Kylie Minogue, Gerri Halliwell, Diana Vickers, Julio Inglesis, West Life, Gareth Gates and played support shows with worldwide superstars like Beyonce, The Saturdays and Booty Luv.

We have experience in placing acts into most of Londons top wedding venues including some that are not on the radar of many London wedding clients. For instance we have supplied London string quartets to a wedding in the Houses Of Parliament which was a rare occasion when this iconic building has been allowed to be used for a wedding reception.

Besides the Houses Of Parliament our acts have played at all the major London hotels and in some of the Capitols best known venues including The British Museum , Soho House , The Gherkin , The Landsdowne Club , Park Lane Hilton , Kew Gardens and many many more.

Wedding themes 2013

Wedding themes 2013

As the wedding season begins in earnest Live Music Management are able to point out some of the key wedding themes beginning to appear in 2013 . Wedding themes 2013 style cover a wide number of inspirational ideas. Obviously Live Music Management’s key area of expertise is live music at weddings and so our list is slanted towards the wedding entertainment trends that we have noticed coming into play.

1920′s Great Gatsby Style

With the Great Gatsby movie opening shortly the glamorous era of the 1920′s jazz age has become a key wedding theme in 2013 and many of our swing bands have benefited from an increase in bookings as clients look to book the perfect jazz band for their big day.

Festival Weddings

Festival themed weddings have become very popular with great rock bands playing the key big anthems and perhaps also offering an acoustic element to their set list.

After Show Parties For Weddings

Many clients , particularly those who grew up in the clubbing age and perhaps still go out clubbing themselves , are not content to allow the festivities to end at midnight and the celebrity inspired after show has grown in popularity with younger guests moving onto a club or booking a party DJ who can play night club style hits until the early hours of the morning.

Highly Themed Weddings

Whether the passion is for circuses , Harry Potter or Star Wars Live Music Management are seeing a number of fun wedding themes in 2013 with clients carrying the theme through everything from the wedding invites right through to the wedding band on the night being asked to learn certain songs or dress in a particular way in order to meet with the wedding theme. These are all themes which we have worked with in the past twelve months. (Top tip for Circus Themed wedding . Hire a stilt walking band !!!  If not hire some stilt walkers who will entertainment and wow your guests.

Weddings Themed To The Location

Getting married in Devon on the coast ? Then a pirate themed wedding will fit the bill perfectly. Getting married in a castle? Then what about a medieval theme and court jesters and court musicians playing music suited to the theme?

Live Music Management have a keen eye for forward thinking wedding themes and we love to get involved with providing the best live entertainment for your wedding theme. We are able to tweak and to bespoke any act to fit with your wedding theme in 2013 and beyond.

Punk Rock Weddings

Wednesday, February 6th, 2013

Themes come and go in the wedding industry and each season brings new trends. Over the last several years the buzz words “Vintage Wedding” have hung around and splintered into a myriad of new styles including 1940′s glamour , 1970s’ chic, 50′s rock n roll and more.Punk Rock Weddings can be seen as an off shoot of this. A niche to inspire creative couples with a rock n roll swagger.

Blogs like Rock n Roll Bride (who have previously featured Live Music Management Rockaoke , Bandeoke and party bands in their real life weddings sections) have been quick to feature Punk Rock Weddings as a trend and there are a hundreds of images on line of punk rock wedding dresses which is a clear sign that something is in the air.

Bridal gown designers like Washington DC’s Punk Rock Bride have a number of fashion forward collections to inspire the Bride looking for an alternative look that is both beautiful and slightly underground.

Although Live Music Management sneer a little at the mention of Sid And Nancy inspired Punk Rock Weddings (do these people not know how that particular relationship ended? They need to read up on their rock history a bit) we are genuinely thrilled to have played a small part in the trend in the UK by supplying properly alternative wedding bands.

What do we mean by Punk Rock Wedding bands?  Well if you look at the likes of Platform Six , The Dominoes , Lucas or Brainscape on the Live Music Management website you will see an indie rock wedding band with a repertoire that won’t scare Auntie Doris but will still be credible to those couples who’ve spent the last five Summers camping at rock festivals, reading NME and watching underground bands in sweaty rock clubs. Live Music Management are the UK’s foremost supplier of this kind of cover band that play all the big party rock anthems with the swagger of the original artists.

The other kind of act that very much fits the bill at a Punk Rock Wedding is Bandeoke also known as rockaoke or live band karaoke. Live Music Managements rock karaoke bands have been in demand at Punk Rock Weddings where the guests get to sing on stage with a live band , throw some rock shapes and have live out the rock star dream. Live Music Management were the originators of this kind of wedding entertainment in the UK and although much imitated we have the best live karaoke bands at the best prices.

The LMM Highlights Of 2012

wedding entertainment

wedding entertainment

As we get towards Christmas Live Music Management usually begin to reflect on the highlights of the year just past. When we look back at 2012 it’s been a pretty good year all in all ,much busier than we maybe expected , and with some really great and successful events in many different arenas. We are looking back at thousands of individual bookings for deejays and party bands , swing acts and classical musicians (and other miscellaneous entertainment!) and each one is worthy of comment however with the time and space allowed we are just going to single out a few.

Thanks to all the clients who booked  entertainment with Live Music Management this year . We have been lucky to add some fantastic new clients for events and parties. We have also supplied a number of individual Brides and Grooms with their wedding entertainment and we would particularly like to thanks those clients who have passed on our details to their friends and colleagues getting married. Our long term clients like Intertain UK and Cavendish Bars deserve some special mention as we pass into our fifteenth year of supplying entertainment to the Walkabout bars…thanks so much for your continued business.

Of course every single function band and DJ working for us is an ambassador for Live Music Management and I would like to thank all of you for your hard work and professionalism.

Highlights Of 2012

1.Cardiff Walkabout re opened after a massive refitt. It looked fantastic, the atmosphere was terrific and I particularly enjoyed seeing five hundred people doing the Gangham Style dance for the first time (thanks DJ Ritchie) well before the dance went overground and was released and in the charts. The Hi Fidels party band did a fantastic job earlier in the evening and it was great catching up with them and hearing their brilliant show.

2.With bands playing throughout the year for the military overseas it would be difficult to pick a highlight but when two of our musicians were awarded the Afghanistan medal for services to the military in Afghanistan this stood out as a major achievement and something Live Music Management are proud to have had a small part in.

3.The Olympics were brilliant for LMM and our acts played at the Australian Rowing teams base throughout the final week of the Olympics for the Aussie team. We also had The Bondis playing at a ceremony to welcome the Australian Olympics team to the UK at which a new Guiness world record was set for the most people wearing the same team strip.

4. Live Music Management were very proud to have supplied DJs to a couple of events for the para olympics teams.

5.Carlisle Walkabout DJs ran a Cumbrias Got Talent night (final on December 28) and showed what a great deal of talent was present in the area and had a lot of fun into the bargain. A massive succes for the DJs and for the site. Congratulations.

6.Australia House booked our DJ for their annual Australia Day celebrations and these proved to be as marvelous as previous years. The Walkabout bars throughout the UK had tremendous atmospheres on Australia Day but if you could have been in Covent Garden , Temple or Shepherds Bush you would have known why January 26 is a must go out night in the LMM diary.

7. The University Bandeoke aka Rockaoke bookings in 2012 have been great nights and we look forward to more University live karaoke in 2013.

8. Of all the iconic London venues LMM supplied wedding entertainment to we would like to mention The Gherkin where Soul Dedication enjoyed a wonderful wedding back in February. This is the third or fourth wedding we have supplied acts to at The Gherkin. Its fantastic.

9.DJ Krystal Rox played several event in Romania and Eastern Europe for live music management this year and every one was a stormer!

10.On a personal note I really enjoyed putting the Mirror Crack’d back together for a charity performance in November. This was the band I formed in Sheffield whilst still at school. We had a couple of singles out at the time (back in the 80s) but didnt realise that so many people had such affection for the band. We raised money for charity and had such a great time that we are doing it again in April 2013.

I could go on and on …….I forgot to mention the best wedding of the year which was our very own Alex Howies wedding to Sheron at which the stiltwalking band and Stynie from The Hi Fidels both played great sets.

2012 was a great year despite the gloomy forecasts in the media and Live Music Management look forward to 2013 as a year of fantastic talent playing brilliant events for lovely people.

Wedding Band TV Show

Friday, December 14th, 2012
wedding band tv show

wedding band tv show

November 10 2012 saw the premiere of a new TV comedy drama show called Wedding Band featuring the hilarious exploits of a bunch of musicians playing in an American wedding band.

There’s a million and one laughs to be gained from this particular scenario featuring as it does one of the key breeding grounds for eccentric behaviour (being in a jobbing band) and one of the key areas for eccentric behaviour (getting married!) I haven’t actually caught any of the episodes which I believe are yet to air in the UK  but a deejay friend of Live Music Managements assures us that it’s funny and true to life. He also states that the bands are playing classic Live Music Management wedding band material.

However I am not sure that TBS description of the plot would ring true with many of our bands.

“Delivering equal parts comedy and heart, TBS’s Wedding Band centers on the bromance of four likable but occasionally reckless young men who can’t figure out their own lives. One thing they have figured out, however, is that weddings are the wildest parties in town. After all, the groupies are bridesmaids, the drinks are free and the best part, there’s a paycheck waiting at the end of the night. It’s not just weddings, the band also brings the party to bar mitzvahs, high-school reunions and even bachelorette parties”

I think most Live Music Management bands would say that weddings are not the wildest parties in town but intimate family occasions where friends and family do have a great party but rarely is it “wild!” Very difficult to have the wildest party in town when your Grandmother and Auntie Doris are amongst the guests. I would also suggest that in our experience the Bridesmaids are not groupies!!  The adult Bridesmaids  are ussually there with their own partners.

Of course TV and film will always run away with a storyline and the Wedding Band TV show is no exception to the rule with this. I just hope that no prospective clients are put off by watching it. In our fifteen years plus of experience (actually way more if you count up the years when our office team were themselves playing in wedding bands) we have rarely seen anything less than professional behaviour at a wedding by the employed staff.

If you are looking to hire a deejay or band for a wedding please call the LMM office on 08454 900515 or email info@lmmuk.com

String Quartets For Weddings

Tuesday, December 11th, 2012
String quartets for weddings

String quartets for weddings

Classical music is a popular choice for a wedding ceremony or drinks reception and with Live Music Managements string quartets for weddings you can be guaranteed of quality music at a competitive price.

Live Music Management offer a range of string quartets for weddings based throughout the UK . They are all highly trained professional outfits. Many of our classical musicians have played at the highest levels with the UKs top orchestras and alongside well respected conductors. Some of our classical musicians have even played in the string sections for top pop acts like Robbie Williams, Take That, Westlife etc. In the last season of Downton Abbey you may have seen one of Live Music Managements string quartets playing in a key scene where they took a role at a charity concert held by the family in Downton Abbey.

Our string quartets for weddings offer a wide repertoire of well known classical standards . Besides the beautiful classical works which make up the majority of their set list many of our string sections offer a selection of pop songs arranged for strings and this mix of traditional and new has become a major attraction at weddings.

For clients on a budget ,or with space restrictions, Live Music Management can offer smaller string sections. A string duo or trio can be a very attractive addition to any event and we have supplied anything from a solo violin player upwards. a viola and violin duo or cello and violin duo are both popular choices with many pieces arranged for these line ups.

Live Music Management have supplied string quartets for weddings in many of the UK’s most prestigious venues including The House Of Lords, Monkey Island Hotel,Magdalene College Cambridge, The Pump Rooms Bath, Addington Palace,Alderley Edge Hotel,Allerton Castle,Amadeus Centre,Amberley Castle,Bisham Abbey and many more.

Of course our string quartets are also used for wedding ceremonies and very often clients will hire a string section to appear during their wedding service (perhaps in a chapel or in the venue) and then to play during the drinks reception .Occasionally this will be on the lawn as photographs are being taken and I can think of little better than strolling around one of the UK’s grand houses sipping champagne whilst a string quartet play some uplifting and inspiring music in the background. (As I write this it is currently mid winter and freezing….I dream on!)

Please call LMM on 08454 900515 or email info@lmmuk.com for further details on string quartets for weddings.

New Years Eve Top Ten Songs

New Years Eve Top Ten Songs

New Years Eve is traditionally the biggest party night of the year but also a time for reflection and thought,a time for looking back at the previous year and consider the year above. It’s one of the reasons why so many people become maudlin at Midnight on New Years Eve whilst others rejoice and party to the max.

The number one New Years Eve song is , obviously, Auld Lang Syne and although most people would struggle to sing the second verse and beyond even small children seem to be able to carry the tune and sing the first verse. It is a major tradition that people stand in a line, link arms and sing this song at New Year and ,even if our own Queen struggled with this at the Dome NYE celebrations back at the millennium, Auld Lang Syne is always going to be at the top of the top ten New Years Eve songs.

Live Music Management would like to offer the following list of songs as tunes worthy of being in the top ten New Years Eve songs. Most of them are party tunes with a celebratory feel we will save the  songs of contemplation for another blog. We hope they offer a guide to anyone putting together a play list for a house party or even as a guide for party bands or mobile DJs.

1.Auld Lang Syne

2.Prince 1999

The Top Ten Christmas Songs 2012

Friday, November 30th, 2012

top ten christmas songs of 2012

December is here and the Xmas tree is up (most probably.) The clubs, pubs and bars are now being filled with guests who are full of the Christmas spirit (and by this I do not mean vodka but a general, warm Christmassy feeling that you get when you,ve had an egg nog and snogged Gillian from accounts.) Most DJs whether club based or mobile DJs will tell you that the Christmas requests have already begun and with this weekend being the first of the Highlight Christmas comedy shows and many a function bands first Christmas party booking of 2012 we figured it was time to pitch in with the top ten Christmas songs of 2012.

1.Mariah Carey- All I Want For Christmas Is You

2.Michael Buble- Let It Snow

3.Michael Buble/Puppini Sisters-Jingle Bells

4.Slade-So Here It Is Merry Xmas

5.Bruce Springsteen-Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

6.Madonna-Santa Baby

7.Band Aid-Do They Know It’s Christmas Time

8.Paul McCartney-Wonderful Xmas Time

9.John Lennon-Merry Xmas (War Is Over)

10.The Beach Boys- Little Saint Nick

As you can see from the list above not that many artists are releasing hugely popular Christmas records in the twenty first century so let’s heap praise on Michael Buble for his sterling efforts in the festive department. What we really need is for The Kings Of Leon and Rhianna to record a Christmas album……maybe together?

Pop Up Musicians-A Cross Between A Flash Mob And Singing Waiters

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

Earlier today I was trying to explain to a client how the Pop Up Musicians concept works. The best description I could come up with when I was on the spot was that Pop Up Musicians were like a cross between a flash mob and singing waiters.

I first came across Singing Waiters in Las Vegas almost twenty years ago in an Italian Restaurant that had become renowned for it’s waiting staff bursting into pop opera classics and Dean Martin tunes in between serving pasta and pizza dishes.Since then it’s transferred to the UK event and wedding market and there are dozens of acts offering Singing Waiter sets to differing standard (some amazing, some mediocre and some appalling.) Live Music Management have a number of singers who can offer this service (we like to think of our acts as being at the amazing rather than mediocre end of the scale!) but we wanted to add something extra to this already popular entertainment offer.

Picture this as a potential scenario for your wedding or event with Pop Up Musicians

A mystery guest is sat at table five. He chats away with your other guests and then after the starters have been served he leans under the table and picks up a saxophone. The guests are dazzled and delighted by his playing but shortly after a waiter comes into the room picks up a guitar from behind the curtains and begins playing along, singing as he does. Now there is something happening on both sides of the room. Another waiter pops out of the serving area. He is carrying a pot and pan and drum sticks. He begins to sing and play a steady rhythm. Now everyone in the room is standing up to be thrilled by the event but it doesn’t end there a Sousaphone player walks into the room and plays the bass lines on his Sousaphone.

This is a Pop Up Musician event- a cross between a flash mob and singing waiters, perfect wedding or event entertainment from Live Music Management see the scene from Love Actually for a vision of how it is done at it’s best!
