New Years Eve Top Ten Songs

New Years Eve Top Ten Songs

New Years Eve is traditionally the biggest party night of the year but also a time for reflection and thought,a time for looking back at the previous year and consider the year above. It’s one of the reasons why so many people become maudlin at Midnight on New Years Eve whilst others rejoice and party to the max.

The number one New Years Eve song is , obviously, Auld Lang Syne and although most people would struggle to sing the second verse and beyond even small children seem to be able to carry the tune and sing the first verse. It is a major tradition that people stand in a line, link arms and sing this song at New Year and ,even if our own Queen struggled with this at the Dome NYE celebrations back at the millennium, Auld Lang Syne is always going to be at the top of the top ten New Years Eve songs.

Live Music Management would like to offer the following list of songs as tunes worthy of being in the top ten New Years Eve songs. Most of them are party tunes with a celebratory feel we will save the  songs of contemplation for another blog. We hope they offer a guide to anyone putting together a play list for a house party or even as a guide for party bands or mobile DJs.

1.Auld Lang Syne

2.Prince 1999

3.Pulp-Disco 2000

4.Kool and The Gang-Celebration

The Top Ten Christmas Songs 2012

top ten christmas songs of 2012

December is here and the Xmas tree is up (most probably.) The clubs, pubs and bars are now being filled with guests who are full of the Christmas spirit (and by this I do not mean vodka but a general, warm Christmassy feeling that you get when you,ve had an egg nog and snogged Gillian from accounts.) Most DJs whether club based or mobile DJs will tell you that the Christmas requests have already begun and with this weekend being the first of the Highlight Christmas comedy shows and many a function bands first Christmas party booking of 2012 we figured it was time to pitch in with the top ten Christmas songs of 2012.

1.Mariah Carey- All I Want For Christmas Is You

2.Michael Buble- Let It Snow

3.Michael Buble/Puppini Sisters-Jingle Bells

4.Slade-So Here It Is Merry Xmas

5.Bruce Springsteen-Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

6.Madonna-Santa Baby

7.Band Aid-Do They Know It’s Christmas Time

8.Paul McCartney-Wonderful Xmas Time

9.John Lennon-Merry Xmas (War Is Over)

10.The Beach Boys- Little Saint Nick

As you can see from the list above not that many artists are releasing hugely popular Christmas records in the twenty first century so let’s heap praise on Michael Buble for his sterling efforts in the festive department. What we really need is for The Kings Of Leon and Rhianna to record a Christmas album……maybe together?

The Top Ten Most Uplifting Songs Ever!!

Friday, September 7th, 2012

Get Up Offa That Thing!!!

So you’re back at work/school/college. The nights are getting darker earlier. Celebrity Big Brother is sapping your will to live.

What you need is for the party dj to play the most uplifting song ever in order to raise your spirits and put a smile back on your face. Now what could that song be. Here’s our top ten with no allegiance to any era, style or quality!

1.Motorhead-Ace Of Spades

2.Boo Radleys-Wake Up Boo

3.Beyonce-Crazy In Love

4.N Trance-Set You Free

5.Elbow-One Day Like This

6.Delight-Groove Is In The Heart

7.James Brown- Get Up Offa That Thing

8.2unlimited- Get Ready For This

9.Eddie And The Hot Rods-Do Anything You Wanna Do

10.Stevie Wonder-Sir Duke

There’s something above to make almost anybodies day. With the exception of Elbow the tracks in our top ten are all adrenalin fueled songs with an upbeat tempo and a message of positivity to complement. Elbow earns it’s place on the list because in spite of it’s slow burn tempo ,and the fact that the vocal hook takes forever to come around , the incessant groove gives the song an uplifting flavour which along with the lyrics makes it a wake up favourite for many and a song chosen for many wedding bands to play as first dance song.

Live Music Management are a UK based entertainments agency with bands and DJs based throughout the UK and available to hire for weddings, parties and events.

Top Ten Whistle Songs

Top Ten Whistle Songs

With the mighty Flo Rida riding high in the charts with “Whistle” it’s time to offer a helpful guide for DJs who may well be confronted by requests for more of the same. What do you play when someone approaches the DJ booth with the words “I love the Whistle song but what else have you got that features whistling?” It’s a dilemma that probably keeps party DJs awake at night so here’s Live Music Managements helpful guide to the top ten songs featuring whistling (and before any DJs complain we are aware that this list is not playable in any night club or wedding …. it’s just for fun!!)

1. Roxy Music -Jealous Guy

2.Monty Python – Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life

3.Scorpions- Wind Of Change

4.Peter, Bjorn and John-Young Folks

5.Otis Redding-Dock Of The Bay

6.Whistling Jack Smith-I was Kaiser Bills Batman

7.Roger Whittaker-Durham Town

8.Peter Gabriel-Games Without Frontiers

9.Bobby McFarrin-Don’t Worry Be Happy

10.Lovin Spoonful-Daydream

So there you have it.Keep this list handy you never know when some smart alec might make that request or indeed when you might need to name ten whistling songs in order to wim a pub quiz.

The Top Ten Sexiest Songs Ever!

Top ten Sexiest Songs

Top ten Sexiest Songs

Billboard magazine have recently published the top fifty sexiest songs ever to reach the charts. The list is slanted towards the United States charts,as you would expect, and contains tracks by the likes of Exile and Vince Gill which would meet with blank stares if mentioned in a pub quiz over here. The top ten is worth printing though as it contains a few classics which might find it into a DJs playlist at a wedding or party. It is unlikely that any of them would achieve the desired effect of creating a sexy mood though (perhaps with the exception of Marvin Gayes Lets Get It On which manages to sound explicit and sexy rather than explicit and comical!)

The fact that Rod Stewart gets two songs in the top ten and that number one is the Olivia Newton John aerobics classic “Physical” just about sums it up.

1.Olivia Newton John-Lets Get Physical

2.Rod Stewart-Tonights The Night

3.Boys to Men-Ill Make Love To You

4.Next-Too Close

5.Marvin Gaye-Lets Get It On

6.Donna Summer-Hot Stuff

7.Captain and Tennille-Do That To Me One More Time

8.Madonna-Like A Virgin

9.Exile-Kiss You Allover

10.Rod Stewart-Do Ya Think I’m Sexy.

It may be that some couple out there are looking for a suitably sexy first dance song to vocalise their desire for each other. It would be a brave couple that chose Do Ya Think I’m Sexy for their wedding band or mobile DJ to play for first dance but Live Music Management do not stand in judgement!

Top Ten Best Last Dance Songs….Ever!!

dancing couple

dancing couple

Attn all DJs LMM begin our campaign to bring back the last dance song.

It seems fitting to write this blog on Feb 29 as today is one of the most romantic days of the year when , traditionally , women can ask blokes to marry them and what better conduit to romance than the last dance song?

Back when I was a nipper every home town Ritzy and Mecca DJ would play a last dance song (sometimes a trio of last dance songs) to enable couples to slow dance at the end of the evening. The tradition died when the dance music DJ took over the decks but it feels like the right time to bring back this glorious tradition which has only survived at school proms. Lets ladle on the cheese and bring back the songs that allow the gent to say “may I have this dance?”

Calling all wedding DJs….become a cupid of the decks….a jockey of love…..bring back the last dance!

If you are a rock or jazz person then LMM have great options for the hire of bands for weddings . LMM have many valentine day entertainment options.

The Top Ten Most Requested Songs For DJs In 2011

LMM Entertainment Agency

LMM Entertainment Agency

Here is a top ten list which all LMM DJs should be able to argue about and contribute to!

LMM’s panel of experts for this blog included an eleven year old who ,obviously, has never been in a city centre bar or night club but who is so “pop music mad” and on target with her tastes that we felt it would be stupid not to allow her to contribute…her predictions were all pretty in tune with the DJs we spoke to…apart from Cher Lloyds Swagger Jagger which seemed to be high on her hit list but not be on the lips of any of the girls approaching our DJs to make requests…unless you know different?

1. One Direction-What Makes You Beautiful

2.Flo Rida – Club Can’t Handle Me

3.Cee Lo Green-Forget You

4.Katy Perry-Teenage Dream

5.Rhianna-Only Girl In The World

6.Adele-Rolling In The Deep

7.Maroon Five-Moves Like Jagger

8.Jesse J-Price Tag

9.David Guetta-Sexy Bitch

10.Rizzle Kicks-Down With The Trumpets.

This discussion is now open…do you disagree with our eleven year old expert (who called up one of our DJs to verify that the above songs which she loves would also be played in night clubs of which she has no experience of!!)
