Event Ideas For Business

Event Ideas For Business

There are a thousand different reasons why a corporate company might want to run an event and almost by definition an event is something which is outside the norm for a business.Indeed there is a huge multi million pound industry built by events planners who will take the strain off a company wanting to plan an event and will take the corporate companies brief and turn it into a reality whether the brief involves a product launch, making sure a corporate message is clear to employees or customers or just to reward and offer some team building. This blog is a helpful guide for a company looking to come up with events ideas for their business without involving a third party events planner.

Product Launches

If a product launch or store opening is planned then the principle behind the launch should be similar to that of planning a party. Provide a nice environment, some nibbles, some drinks and some entertainment which fits with the brand or service. At the high end Live Music Management have provided female violin players dressed in Couture dresses in order to look like the famous Rolls Royce Silver Shadow emblem for a Rolls Royce launch in Qatar. We supplied a George Michael look a like for a BMW launch in Romania and  a Beatles tribute band for a Volkswagen Beatles launch at a festival style event at a car sales room.Live Music Management Rockaoke aka Bandeoke Live Karaoke Bands have been used at many product launches,in particular, the Sing Star Wii games launches.

Brand Enhancement

Live Music Management have supplied a number of entertainment options to brand enhancement and brand awareness events.A brand enhancement event has to be the perfect marriage between event and brand in order to give the brand an additional lift in credibility or awareness by association with the event and the entertainment at the event. One such example would be the festival style event organised to announce the arrival of the new Volkswagen Beatle where a Beatles tribute band was the perfect mix of nostalgia and glamour for the product. One fashion forward high street chain used Live Music Management DJs in order to create a buzzy night club style atmosphere during the launch of one of their product lines.

Corporate Parties/Team Building

When producing event ideas for business Live Music Management take into consideration the demographic at the event and offer entertainment appropriate for the clientele. If a company is organising a corporate party or dinner then it is essential that the entertainment will suit the mood that the client wants to create. If you want people to dance and the audience is ,on average, in their mid thirties then a different style of band will be required to an event which is going to be attended by people in their fifties or sixties. Live Music Management can offer function bands and DJs appropriate for all types of events.

Corporate Entertainment Ideas

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013

At Live Music Management we have a large number of enquiries from clients looking for corporate entertainment ideas. Over the years we have been able to build up a reputation as an honest broker with great quality live acts available at reasonable rates. Most importantly we have built a reputation for honest advice and we will always be looking beyond the one booking to build a rapport with a client (even they only book entertainment once a year) so that they become one of our valued “return” clients.

When someone asks for corporate entertainment ideas we are always thinking about how to make their party the very best that it can be.

There are a few key questions that we would ask of any client looking for corporate entertainment ideas.

1.What is the age and nationality demographic of the party?

2.What kind of effect are you looking to achieve? Do you want to get guests dancing or is the party a more formal reception.

3.Where in the UK is the venue and is it one that lends itself to live music?

4.Is there an award ceremony or speeches which the act needs to involve itself in? Is there a brand image which needs to be stressed and built upon?

5.How many guests will be in attendance?

6.Will the act need to bring PA or is there a sound and light company already booked?

7.Is there a fixed budget for the corporate entertainment?

With the information above Live Music Management can begin to look at what kind of act would work best. Would that be a large function band or a four piece party band? Would a jazz swing act be the best kind of act for this event? Does the space and type of clientelle suggest that a great power duo like Front Cover would be the best act for this event? Could the event benefit from Bandeoke or Rockaoke and some audience involvement with one of our live karaoke bands?

There are endless options from Tribute acts through to themed bands playing music of a particular style for the audience. Maybe the corporate party will benefit from being themed so everyone can dress in fancy dress. Is the guest invite suggesting formal or informal dress?

Live Music Management also offer add ons to events like stilt walkers , fire eaters and magicians. There are a wide variety of corporate entertainment ideas that we can suggest and we would be very happy to speak to you about realising your vision for your next event. You can call the office on 08454 900515 or by email on info

Corporate Entertainment

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

Corporate parties are events which are organised by companies for their employees and clients. A corporate event might be organised with a variety of goals in mind. It may be a reward for employees after a particular target has been hit or just as a year end bash. There may be awards attached to this kind of party with a ceremony making up part of the evening. Some corporate events are designed to incorporate a brand or product launch or enhance awareness of a product. There are a number of reasons for a company to want to work outside the day to day machinery of work life in order to get across a particular message or drive employees to a goal.

With the above in mind Live Music Management are experts in providing corporate entertainment in all it’s different manifestations. Live Music Management have over thirteen years experience of providing the right corporate entertainment at the right budget and in these days of corporate austerity Live Music Management are growing the corporate entertainment side of their business as they are recognised by the events industry as an honest broker of quality acts at reasonable prices.

Live Music Management have amassed years of experience of supplying the best quality party bands , deejays , swing bands and tribute acts to events throughout the UK and beyond. Some of these are hired by the companies themselves and , indeed, this Christmas we are proud to be supplying live bands to several companies who have used LMM for many years trusting our entertainment team to deliver the right act for their event.

“This is the second time we’ve used LMM to provide live music for our corporate Xmas party. Both events went off without a hitch. The bands – Docs and Duke – were on time, tight, great covers and thoroughly entertaining.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend LMM to arrange the entertainment – or either band to provide it.”

Equilibrium Healthcare December 2012.

“DJ Dean Courtney did a really great job. He was able to work the audience and even got them out of their seats to play them off against one another – which really helped increase funds. He was keen to get involved and help out as much as he could which was great as we really needed an extra pair of hands.
We would be happy to recommend him for other events.

Many thanks

Christmas Party Entertainment

Christmas party entertainment

Christmas party entertainment

With December just a few short days away Live Music Managements efforts are very much concentrated on ensuring that the Christmas party entertainment we have in place in the very many venues that we look after is as good as previous years. Fantastic party DJs are being booked and confirmed for our high street clients along with many exciting peripherals like snow cannons and Christmas themed decorations. A good number of our regular clients are using live music in order to make their Christmas party entertainment the best that it can be (and with live party bands and swing bands based throughout the UK Live Music Management are well placed to ensure that you get the best band at the best price for your party.)

The Highlight Comedy club Christmas shows begin this weekend with a great value night of comedy, food and music available at a very reasonable price. Highlight comedy shows are the perfect Christmas party solution for the small business or group of friends wanting to book a top quality evening of entertainment without the expense of paying for the venue hire, cost of comedians, catering and price of DJ.If you attend a Highlight show this December you will see a Live Music Management DJ entertaining the crowd after the comedy (they also run the sound for the comedy show.)

Besides our regular fifty two weeks per year clients there are a number of clients that we only hear from at Christmas when they book the entertainment for their annual Xmas bash. Just yesterday I confirmed and contracted Sugar Shack function band for a large company Christmas party which we have had the pleasure of booking entertainment into for almost ten years now. This will be Sugar Shacks first outing for this client but they have had a great band from Live Music Management every year since the early 2000′s.

Another regular Christmas client hired Duke party band late last week for their event on December 8.

Live Music Management tend to find this time of year is pretty busy with Rockaoke aka Bandeoke or Live Karaoke Band bookings as many corporate clients enjoy a good old Christmas sing a long with one of our great Karaoke Bands and we have a number of acts booked out over the festive period.

One thing that we have noticed in the past four years is that December bookings seem to get later and later and we are still getting phone calls about availability for New Years Eve bands and bands on key dates in December. Luckily we do have some availability for key dates and so it is worth a quick call to the Live Music Management office on 08454 900515 if you are yet to book your Christmas party entertainment.

What Is A Joiner Party?

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

Joiner party

Joiner party

One of the current buzz phrases in the corporate hospitality world is the “joiner party.” I have to confess when I first saw this rather clunky phrase I asked my colleague ,”what is a joiner party?.” She cast blank looks my way as did most of the Live Music Management team.

It turns out that Live Music Management already supply entertainment to Joiner Parties up and down the UK it’s just that the wording “ joiner party” hasn’t really passed into day to day usage in the UK yet. It’s not a phrase that readily falls from our lips.

Q. what is a joiner party?

A. A joiner party is a party which more than one corporate or party organising individual can join and in doing so save on costs for venue hire, entertainment , staff, catering costs etc.In simple terms its a shared party.

Live Music Management supply the DJ/ show techs for the Highlight comedy clubs and over the Christmas period these are classic examples of the joiner party with multiple companies or groups of people taking tables at a Christmas party with food, drinks, live entertainment and a disco. Highlight comedy shows are a prime example of a good value joiner party with fantastic entertainment and facilities available at what would be a fraction of the price of hiring out the same package for one company. By sharing the costs of putting the night on across several companies the end client gets a great value night.

Joiner parties most definitely suit smaller businesses who might have fifty guests or less. By sharing the cost of the party staff and guests will feel they are getting a quality evening. They also suit the larger party that maybe wants to upgrade to the best kind of night available for their budget. So a company of one hundred and fifty people might be able to budget at £30 per head and still get a live party band, DJ and good quality food whereas if they had taken the full brunt of the cost of the evening they may have had to scrimp on one of the elements of the night.

Of course by joining a joiner party you also pass on the headache of someone within your organisation have to organise the party. There may also be an advantage to sharing with other local businesses as joiner parties can lead to an opportunity to network. It is also true that larger parties can have a better atmosphere than a small affair.

The downsides to all this are that you as a company lose control of the evening and so things like brand messages , company awards are lost among the meliu.

So if you are looking to organise a Christmas party it may be that a joiner party would suit your company but if not please do call Live Music Management for the best options on live corporate entertainment.

Pippa Middleton-Party Planner-Pippa’s Top Tips

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012
pippa middleton party planner

pippa middleton party planner

Pippa Middleton has a party planning book out.

Pippa is the divine sister of Kate (you know the one-she married Prince William-you probably saw it on the telly!) In the book she outlines her party planning tips and, in theory, she is well placed to be able to off top party planning tips. After all the Middleton’s family business,Party Pieces, has been supplying party planning advice and goodies for decades and Pippa was a central guest at the Royal Wedding which must be the best party so far thrown this century (if you discount the Olympics.)

Pippa Middleton’s book , Celebrate, has not been celebrated by the critics. By all accounts it’s a lavish, well packaged affair and it’s obviously aimed at the lucrative Christmas market. I am sure Pippa will be cropping up on the TV sofa’s over the next few months in order to publicise it and I am certain that we will see it front racked in all the supermarkets and book stores alongside “Fifty Shades Of Grey” and the new JK Rowling novel. It is almost a cert to sell a reasonable amount of copies due to the oxygen of publicity which the Middleton machine will be able to pump out.Live Music Management are sure that Pippa wasn’t given her £400,000 advance from publishers ,Michael Joseph , on her writing ability.

So what party planning advice does Pippa Middleton dispense for her half a million?

“For Halloween, a pointy hat, fake hair and a broom [make] a witch’s outfit.”

“When hosting a party, move any clutter from the space where you’re entertaining.”

“Nearly any breakfast becomes special when it’s brought to you in bed.”

“Tea bags should go in the teapot, rather than individually in mugs.”

A guide on how to have an Easter egg hunt (“An adult hides a selection of eggs. They should be low down within easy reach of children.”)

I have to confess at this point that I haven’t read the book and the quotes above were chosen by the Guardian critic as prime examples of the simplistic advice given in Celebrate but when I read the reviews last night I was reminded of Viz magazines Top Tips column when hapless readers would offer the most innane suggestions on various subjects to hilarious effect.

Perhaps the more personal autobiographical pieces interspersed throughout the book about attending parties and growing up in the Middleton household will give the book a little bit of a unique spin but American critics already appear to have found a word to put the book down as they a calling it a “bum-mer!”

Planning a party and want to book some entertainment? Call Live Music Management who are the UK’s leading party band and DJ agency. We are on hand to offer free advice on party planning on 08454 900515 or by emailing info@lmmuk.com

Live Music Management Promote Mirror Crack’d Charity Show

Mirror Crack'd Sheffield Band

Mirror Crack'd Sheffield Band

Back in the early 1980′s one of the Directors of Live Music Management played in a Sheffield based originals band called The Mirror Crack’d. The band in effect split up twenty five years ago when one of the members left to join The Human League (a position he still holds to this day …he should be due a gold watch for long standing service!)

The Mirror Crack’d were not widely known outside the Sheffield area despite a number of London shows, small tours of the UK and many dates at the Leeds Warehouse. They did appear on TV a few times and recorded a Radio One session for Janis Long way back in 1982. The band released a couple of singles but were long forgotten until a couple of things happened.

1.They were contacted by someone who used to follow the band around at live shows and who requested some old recordings.

2.Three members of the band got up at a friends fiftieth birthday party and played a couple of cover songs.

Connecting the two things together The Mirror Crack’d decided to reform for a charity show which is to be held at The Greystones in Sheffield on November 22 2012. The tickets for the show sold out in a couple of weeks and so The Childrens Hospital Charity (which two members of the Mirror Crack’d have supported enthusiasticly as they had the misfortune to have to use the Childrens Hospital services for their own children who both, thankfully, made a full recovery.

Ticket sales were helped, perhaps, by The Mirror Crack’ds appearance in a couple of books about the Sheffield music scene in the 1980s. Sheffield was a vibrant music town in the 80s with acts like The Human League, Pulp, Def Leppard, Artery, Cabaret Voltaire, Heaven 17,ABC, The Comsat Angels, Clock DVA and many others all making their mark on the national scene. The Mirror Crack’d were one of the foot soldiers in the 1980′s pop wars alongide others who played localy but didn’t make it to the big time.Bands like Tsi Tsa, The Negatives, Mrs Beech And The Heretics, The Scarborough Antelopes, Toy Shop,The Splash, New Model Soldier, The Mix , The Flying Alphonso Brothers and The Box all had a following locally.

Live Music Management are very proud to support this charity event which should be a great night for the people who have remembered the band from almost thirty years ago (many of whom have discovered information about the reunion show from the Mirror Crack’d facebook group which you are welcome to join if you wish to see rare video and photos of the Sheffield music scene back in the 1980s) but is also guaranteed to be a great night for the band themselves back on stage for the first time since the early 1980s.

Live Music Management supply party  and function bands to many charity events throughout the UK please call the office on 08454 900515 for more details.

Why Use Music Agents?

Friday, October 19th, 2012
Music Agent

Music Agent

With the advent of the Internet there is the opportunity for the individual client to have access to the contact details of hundreds of live music acts at the click of a mouse. Some people will see this as spelling the death knell for the traditional music agent who will place bands into weddings, parties , night clubs and events etc. In this new landscape why use music agents? Live Music Management would argue that there is now a burden of choice which makes it even more essential to use a trusted middle man as gate keeper and advisor.

For a venue manager or company the job of searching for new bands is beyond the scope of possibility when placed against the time constraints of running a business and the majority of venue managers would, probably, recognise that they are not experts in searching out new talent. For the  individual client, say a Bride and Groom or one off party organiser, there can be no expectation that they would be an expert in sourcing live bands.

The world of the wedding or function band can be a murky one. There are many band websites with video and audio which paints a very different picture to what you will find if you see the band live and yet it is often very difficult to get to see a particular band live. This is one area where a trusted music agent can offer a valued service. Live Music Management know the acts we represent and will be able to advice which act suits your event. The presence of an act on our website is a mark of quality and we continually monitor feedback and use this both to offer an act and also , ultimately, to decide whether a band deserve a place on www.lmmuk.com  We operate strict guidelines of conduct and we remove and disassociate ourselves from any acts that do not meet with these exacting standards.

In order to secure bookings for our party bands Live Music Management issue contracts. These are legally binding and offer the best protection for the client who wants to ensure that an act will turn up and work as agreed on the big day. Live Music Management are members of the Agents Association Of Great Britain which ensures that it’s member agents uphold the highest of standards in their business and conduct.

Besides contracting Live Music Management are  music agents who operate a belts and braces approach to confirmations. Events may be contracted several months or years in advance. All LMM acts know that they then receive a further email confirmation at the start of every month. They then recieve telephone confirmation on the week of the gig.At each confirmation they are reminded of the basic details of the show and their obligations. They have to respond to confirm everything is understood.

Should there be any issues closer to the date Live Music Management operate a 24 hour emergency telephone service which is manned at all times by two staff members. On a weekly basis we chase availabilities for hundreds of acts so LMM are well placed to be able to deal with last minute emergencies.

All deposits are taken by visa or bacs via secure online facilities.

Client deposits are held in a client account until the show date has passed and so they are held secure should you need to be refunded etc.

The fee itself is often less than you would pay by contacting a band direct. LMM offer our bands hundreds of dates per annum and we are well placed to negotiate discounts for acts on dates. We are very transparent about fee’s and our quotes do not contain any hidden extra’s.

Live Music Managements business as a music agent has, essentially, grown by word of mouth and many of our original contracts are still in place a decade or more after the company formed with well known venues like Walkabout Australian Bars and Butlins using LMM’s services for twelve years or more.If you are looking for a music agent this is one area that I would advice that you look for.Does the company you are dealing with have long term relationships with companies. It’s one thing supplying a one off band to a company or individual it is quite another to have supplying thousands of acts over a ten year period.

What Is A Corporate Event?

Thursday, October 18th, 2012

What is a corporate event?

On the face of it the question answers itself.

In very simple terms a corporate event is an event organised by a corporation (or, in the UK venacular, a company) but to answer the question properly Live Music Management would like to define the types of corporate events that , as a trusted UK based entertainment agency, we supply entertainment to.

Corporate events range from small office parties with just a dozen or so people in attendance through to massive conferences with many hundreds or thousands of delegates.

Some corporate parties are purely to reward the company team , to allow them to let off steam and bond . Live Music Management tend to be busy at Christmas with this kind of office party which is a tradition within the UK workforce. Christmas party entertainment can range between a simple mobile DJ set up through to a function band. There has been a demand at Christmas parties for Rockaoke aka Bandeoke or Live Karaoke Bands over the last few years and Live Music Management are the UKs premier supplier of this type of eventertainment. Over the last fifteen years of supplying bands and DJs to Xmas parties we have supplied acts for parties in offices right through to supplying acts at huge prestigious venues like the Natural History Museum , the o2 and the Gherkin.

Outside the Christmas season corporate companies will occasionally hold events to commerate an anniversary or to celebrate winning a large contract for instance. On occasion Live Music Management will be asked to supply an act for the retirement party of an important management member.

Corporate events are also held in order to launch new products or to increase brand awareness of an existing product. Live Music Management will be challenged with presenting some memorable entertainment or spectacle which will reinforce the brand image and establish a credible reputation for a product. Amongst many other brand awareness and product launches LMM have supplied an Opera singer for the opening of the Qatar gas terminal which established a base for the import of Qatari Gas in the UK, we also supplied musicians for the launch of the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow in Qatar, a Beatles Tribute band for the launch of the new mini, a number of different bands for computer games launches, DJs for instore events in retail venues etc etc. Often we work in conjunction with an events organiser in order to establish the right act for the product launch, an act which will personify the brand and make a connection with the target audience.

Another kind of corporate event is the awards ceremony which ,for a large organisation, is often the highlight of the calendar . Often an MC (possibly even a TV celebrity) will introduce the awards followed by entertainment from a suitable act. Live Music Management have even supplied acts that will play walk on music throughout the event.

Finally some companies will organise events in order to impart a company message. Many years ago one of our Directors put together a band for British Telecom when they held five seperate events in a variety of locations throughout England , Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland in order to stress to staff a new business direction. Each event was attended by several thousand employees. The band acted as a motivational tool to emphasise elements of  the chairmans speech and to establish a link with the new direction the company was taking.

A corporate event should be a big date in an organisations calendar. It should be remembered (for all the right reasons!) as a fun date which stays with the attendees and achieves it’s desired goal whether that is to get across a company message , launch a product , or give employees a motivational party. Live Music Management are here and able to help you choose the right entertainment in order to reach that goal.
