Five Musicals LMM Don’t Want Remade

Five Musicals You Don't Want Re Made

Five Musicals You Don't Want Re Made

Live Music Management swing bands play a number of songs that featured in the classic musicals like Pal Joey and On The Town. Many of our covers bands play tunes well known from musicals like Grease and Dirty Dancing. It doesn’t make us the worlds biggest experts on musicals (hey we can’t compete with some friends of ours who can sing every word from every Sondheim show) but it does qualify Live Music Management to make this tongue in cheek case for the Five Musicals LMM Don’t Want Remade.

1.The Wizard Of Oz.

The Judy Garland classic remade with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera with special guest star Justin Beaver as the Tin Man may have seemed a good idea on paper but it’s an idea that should remain on paper. It was bad enough when Michael Jackson and Diana Ross remade it as The Wiz…..and at least that had disco dancing and roller skates in it.

2.Pal Joey

Robbie Williams takes on the Frank Sinatra role in this Hollywood remake. The classic Lorenz and Hart tunes like “Bewitched,Bothered and Bewildered ” and “I Could Write A Book” are augmented by an original tune written by Robbie and Gary Barlow….brilliant!

3.Grease

Why it’s Greased Lightning say the all new 21st century cast of Grease. Robert Patterson as Danny and Kristen Stewart as Sandy may have seemed risky choices on paper but fans will love this non vampire pairing of the box office favourites especially with many of your Twilight stars making up the Pink Ladies and the Danny Zuko gang.

4.Seven Brides For Seven Brothers

It’s One Direction and Little Mix in their own musical extravangsa performing electrifying dance routines and fantastic songs in the musical stylee.

5. High Society

They said it couldn’t be done but High Society has been given a bling makeover with this hip hop version starring Jay Z, Beyonce , Kanye West and Rhianna. With guest stars from the world of hip hop including Eminem in a mis cast role as a butler this is bound to be one  of the five musicals LMMdont want remade!

Hope you enjoyed this tongue in cheek Christmas blog for details about great entertainment for weddings and parties visit our main site www.lmmuk.com

Thursday, September 27th, 2012

Jazz music is a popular choice for weddings as party music and also as background music for dinner receptions.

Jazz music appeals to fans of all things vintage who are planning a vintage wedding capturing the elegance and sophistication of the Jazz age or creating an upmarket expression of the finger clicking 1950′s Vegas lounge style. If you are looking to book Jazz for a vintage wedding then there are a number of great swing bands and wedding singers that can be considered on the Live Music Management jazz band page.

Jazz for weddings also has wide spread appeal to every generation likely to be present at a wedding especially if the Bride and Groom book a band who play the American Songbook style of swing covers which includes tracks well known to younger people through covers on X Factor and by major artistes like Michael Buble, Robbie Williams, Westlife and Amy Winehouse for these songs were originally hits for the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Ella Fitzgerald and are ingrained in popular culture.

There are jazz swing bands who specialise in music to dance to and others that play softer, more atmospheric background music. If in doubt about which band will create the perfect atmosphere at your wedding then please feel free to call the Live Music Management team of jazz for weddings experts on 08454 900515. They will be sure to offer honest advice and point you in the direction of the right band for your big day.

Powder Party And Jazz Band

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

There are party bands that specialise in sounding exactly like the tracks they cover and others who add their own special twist to their songs in order to make them their own. The guys from Powder have always fallen into that second category .Whether they are playing a Frank Sinatra song or a pop song like the Joss Stone cover featured in this video Powder take ownership of the song.

Powder are a brilliant and modestly priced option for any discerning music lover wanting to hire a fantastic and versatile band for a party or wedding.

The band are based in West Yorkshire but travel throughout the UK playing lots of weddings and parties. They have long been a favourite of events organisers wanting a quality swing band for an event . They also have dozens of testimionials from brides and grooms who have enjoyed their performance.

Live Music Management would endorse Powder as one of the best value bands in the UK and a great choice for anyone looking to hire a swing band who also play some modern, funky pop that you can dance to.

The UKs Best Swing Bands For Hire

Swing bands have such a great collection of songs to choose from in order to put together their wedding band sets. The great American songbook, as the collection of swing covers played by the likes of Sinatra,Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Buble etc has come to be known, is a rich and brilliant selection of songs with many tunes that are known from movies,TV and hundreds of cover versions.

If you are looking for a dinner jazz set then you may want some ballads included in the bands set list but if you are looking for a jazz swing band with an uptempo set list then the songs below are amongst the top tunes to look out for.

All of the songs below have been covered by the top swing singers and so I have not put an artists name at the side of any of the song tittles. For my money if Sinatra covered the track he has usually made it his own but Tony Bennet,Dean Martin,Ella and Paul Anka are amongst the other great singers of the swing era. More recently Rod Stewart,West Life and Robbie Williams have all made covers albums of swing covers.

Hassop Hall-Great Derbyshire Wedding Venue

Monday, September 26th, 2011

Hassop Hall Hotel

Live Music Management were at a beautiful wedding venue in Derbyshire over the weekend with top wedding jazz band Nat King Bing and party DJ Andy Wyatt.

I have some distant memories of attending a function in Hassop Hall several years ago but the piano player from Nat King Bing (who had played a lovely dinner jazz set earlier in the day) had some great memories of the venue. He had played the main hotel part of Hassop Hall on over fifty occasions. Most memorably he had played an International Conference on Sperm at the venue some years ago and was recounting how the organisers were very sheepish about about the conference was about.

Anyway Hassop Hall is a wonderful, awe inspiring venue. Torches were lit on the gravel drive. The two halls are both dramatic and historic buildings.

Set in beautiful rolling countryside and within the Peak District close to Bakewell Hassop Hall is a venue which LMM would heartily recommend .

For further details of wedding entertainment in the Derbyshire area please visit the main LMM website or call 08454 900515 or email info@lmmuk.com
