Brainscape

Brainscape

Live Music Management have been lucky enough to supply acts to the Motorcycle News Weekend for over six years and this weekend just past we had four bands playing at Skegness Butlins for the annual biker bash.

Platform Six , Satisfunction,  Brainscape and Treacle (playing a specially tailored seventies set as opposed to their usual eclectic  mix) all took to the stage to a rapturous reception . For Platform Six and Brainscape this was a rebooking as both acts have played the MCN weekend in  previous years. It’s a show they all look forward to as the audience are a lively bunch who are out for a great weekend of entertainment and really get into the music. It gives the bands the opportunity to press down on the rock button as many of the rock anthems that they would leave out of their wedding band set would make perfect sense at a weekend like this.

The great thing about many of the LMM bands ,and certainly these four acts, is that they are very versatile. They are all London Wedding Bands that also play at corporate events and nightclubs , student university bookings and holiday parks. They have a wide set list and recognise the requirements of different types of audiences and are able to meet with the different demands of different types of events.

If you are looking for a London function band then you might want to consider one of the acts that played this weekends MCN weekend. They are all great acts with a long history of rocking audiences. If you are planning  a biker rally or similar style beer festival type of event then Treacle ,  Satisfunction,  Brainscape or Platform Six have got to be high on the list of the very best band to book.

For the bands themselves one of the things they have enjoyed this weekend is seeing their names on the back of the “tour style” t shirts produced by Motorcycle News in order to celebrate the weekend. It must be every bands dream to have their own tour T Shirt!

The Top Ten Best 80s Goth Anthems…Ever!!

Grimly Fiendish

Grimly Fiendish

For those of you not tired of the Halloween theme, and still wanting to keep in a vampire state of mind, we bring you the top ten 80s goth songs……ever.

Why the 80s you may ask?

Two reasons

1.it was the birth of Goth

2.we have an expert in our midst.

Al in the Live Music Management accounts department was a bit of a goth in her youth and although she never sported the pale palour and none more Black look beloved of cider drinking Goths (still to be found skulking around public monuments in every small town in the UK) she retains a fondness for some of the more commercial offerings of the genre.

Goth has moved a million miles and splintered into a thousand sub genres since the 80s period when Leeds was the Goth capitol of the Universe and Robert Smith was an unlikly and reluctant Goth icon but many of the songs below will still be played at a Goth night and when one of our DJs played at a Goth wedding recently he was asked to play many of the tracks listed below (along with some tracks by acts he had never heard of but had already arranged with the bride and groom to have available on the night.)

Even for none Goths this list contains a couple of absolute classics which haven’t dated one bit.

1.Bauhaus-Bela Lugosis Dead

2.The Cure-A Forest

3.Souixsie and The Banshees-Christine

4.The Cult-She Sells Sanctuary

7.All About Eve-Flowers In Her Hair

8.Fields Of Nephilim-Preacher Man

Who Called Me Cheesey?

Big Hair Rock. Big anthems. Foot on the monitor and hands held aloft. Its the top ten best 80s rock songs.

Some of these songs have become staples of the party DJs music policy and tunes played by wedding bands the world over. These are the guaranteed crowd pleasing anthems to get an audience singing along and rocking out.

The Top Ten Best Party Punk Songs…Ever!!

Top Ten Best Punk Party Songs

Top Ten Best Punk Party Songs

As with all of these top ten best song lists the selection below is meant to be a helpful guide for a band , DJ or interested party putting together a playlist for a party or event with a punk theme . Purists will cry “The Boomtown Rats were never punk” or ask where are Siouxsie And The Banshees and Wire, why no Ruts or PIL?

The answer is that the songs below resonate with the big crowd. They are the ones that fill the dance floor and get the crowd. There are better Clash songs than “Should I Stay” but “Should I Stay” was the one used in the advert and the one that became the massive hit throughout the world.

These are the party punk classics. If we were picking the best Punk songs ever we would have to have to Wire “3 Girl Rhumba” on it wouldn’t we?

1.Sex Pistols-Pretty Vacant

2.The Clash-Should I Stay Or Should I Go Now

3.The Undertones-Teenage Kicks

4.The Jam-Town Called Malice

5.The Ramones-Sheena Is A Punk Rocker

6.The Boomtown Rats-I Dont Like Mondays

7.The Buzzcocks-Ever Fallen In Love

8.The Damned-New Rose

9.The Skids-Into The Valley

10.Sham 69-If The Kids Are United

Gods Of Rock-No Ordinary Party Band

Friday, August 26th, 2011

High energy. Rock stars on stage (but nice guys off.) Tongue in cheek stage presence. The ability to take a crowd and make it party. Brilliant performers. Amazing musicians.

These are just a few of the recent comments we have had from clients , venues and fans about the Gods Of Rock.

The Gods Of Rock are in many ways a unique act. Young guys playing old school style rock (with some new tunes thrown in the mix for good measure.)

They appeal to venues looking for a crowd rocking band. They are loved by private clients looking for something different for a party or wedding. They are much loved by military functions , student balls and festivals.

When Alex auditioned them in Shepherds Bush Walkabout last year he was excited by the fact that the band treated the venue as if it was Wembley Stadium (this was early evening on a Monday when there were around 50 to a 100 people present on site.) They play for the love of playing as much as anything else. They have since played to a packed house at the Shepherds Bush Walkabout and blown the place apart.

If you are interested in booking The Gods Of Rock for your event then please call 08454 900515 for further information.
