Happy Australia Day

Happy Australia Day

Australia Day is a massive day for LMM as we supply bands and DJs to the Walkabout chain of bars throughout the UK all of which have some great entertainment booked for tonight.

Australia Day is celebrated throughout the Walkabout chain and with a generation of young backpackers both Aussie and Pom buying into the Down Under spirit most of the venues will the rammed tonight with Aussies and honorary Aussies.

Platform Six Are A Great Party Band who also do Rockaoke/Bandeoke Sets

I had the great pleasure of working last night with our fantastic party band Platform Six who were providing a Rockaoke/Bandeoke set for a major phone company at a swanky and exclusive West End nightclub. The audience went wild as over thirty key staff and personell got up on stage and got their rocks off singing big pop anthems with this great Australian band.

Platform Six have had an incredibly busy couple of months with shows throughout the UK both as a party band and as a Bandeoke/Rockaoke act.

One of the highlights for the guys was playing at the beautiful Australian High Commission for the Australian High Commission Ball.We had marvelous feedback saying it was the best ball they had ever held and all the committe agreed that the band played a blinding set.The band told me last night that some of the guests even followed them down to Temple Walkabout the next night where they played another great concert.

Platform Six are an amazing band for weddings, events and parties and, just as importantly for the people who book them,a lovely bunch of guys who are very helpful and easy to work with.

Last nights show was a double header for LMM as support was from our unique jazz swing rock covers act “Nat King Bing And The Kings Of Schwing”  who played a set full of pop and rock anthems in the jazz swing style.A sophisticated start to a great evening in an amazing venue.

With a black tie guest list and the champagne flowing both bands had a brilliant evening (and so did the guests!)

If you are interested in booking either act call 08454 900515 or email info@lmmuk.com   you will not be disappointed.

LMM Office Staffed by Bird Brains!

The LMM staff often multi task as demonstrated by Alex answering the phone whilst acting as a bird stand.

The LMM staff often multi task as demonstrated by Alex answering the phone whilst acting as a bird stand.

It isn’t as clear from the picture as I would have liked but please enjoy this photo of one of LMMs staff sat in the office with a bird perched on his head. Please don’t ask why he is sat with a bird on his head because the answer would be long, complex and boring.

No animals were harmed in the making of this picture and no alchohol had been consumed.

Live Cover And Wedding Band Reviews

Lucas are one of the great bands available for weddings and parties from LMM

Lucas are one of the great bands available for weddings and parties from LMM

I must have seen well over 1000 live shows . More if you count the showcases we have held over the years where up to fifteen bands  battle it out for an opportunity to secure live gigs at walkabout, holiday centres, universities, weddings or events.
Amongst the legendary live acts I have been lucky enough to see  lots of cover band live gigs stand out as brilliant memories.

The Hi Fidels Australia day 2009 Temple Walkabout.

Somewhere in the region of 1000 Aussies were already in the party mood when we entered the venue at 7.30 as the hi fidels played sex is on fire by the kings of leon.the audience sang along with every line and when I eventually got a view of the stage the band were draped in aussie flags.for the next 60 mins they ran through every crowd pleasing anthem in the book and the audience lapped it up.
Becasue it was australia day the hifidels dropped in some aussie classic rock anthems including a note perfect never tear us apart by Inxs. Afterwards I asked the band how often they had played this song and they confessed that they had played it once before as the first dance for a wedding twelve months previously.genius.
The Hifidels never fail to deliver but in front of the Walkabout Temple  Australia day crowd they excelled. The Hi Fidels are one of the most exciting live cover bands in the UK and perfect for any event or wedding.

Freak Out Playing in front of 30 people

I have seen Freak Out deliver several outstanding shows. Amongst the stand outs would be the opening night of Leicester Walkabout where they had a packed house eating out of their hands and the First Choice holidays reunion weekend at Skegness Butlins where the party crowd went wild for Freak Outs mix of party , indie and rnb.
However the Freak Out show which stands out above all others is the night they played a low key showcase gig to an audience of 30 people.
Freak Out took to the stage with a confidence which only comes from being at the top of their game. They played a mash up musical mix of great covers tracks encompassing rnb favourites by Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake and rock anthems such as “Livin On a Prayer” with tracks like “mr Brightside”by the Killers.
Within three songs they had encouraged ten girls onto the dancefloor (remember this is in front of an audience of thirty) and they were away, impressing everyone with their Prince like slickness and funky cool vibe.
To play in front of a crowd of thirty and still get a great atmosphere is some feat but one Freak Out achieved with cool, verve and ease. If you are looking for a band for your party or wedding call 08454 900515 and speak to one of our team about Freak Out. This North West based party band are number one for weddings in the Cheshire area and beyond.

Lucas at Shepherds Bush Walkabout

Lucas are a band with an outstanding pedigree. Seasoned young musicians who are can turn their hand to almost any style of music what sets them apart from other three piece live party wedding bands is their energy and personality. Coming on stage fifth at a cse showcase competing for a place playing shows overseas for the military Lucas just blew the place apart. Opening with their backs to the audience and guitars held aloft they turned around to deliver a thirty minute medley of the highlights of their live show which they perform at weddings ,parties and events throughout the UK.At the end of the show they had won over the cse crew who have since regularly booked them to perform for the military. In fact if you check out the main LMM website you will see a video of Lucas performing in Cyprus for the military They also do a superb job playing at weddings throughout the UK and we get endless positive feedback from clients who have booked this great live band for a wedding.

Anzac Day In London Live Party Bands And DJs

Anzac Day In London

Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, and is commemorated by both countries on April 25 every year to honour members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC)who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I . It now more broadly commemorates all those who died and served in military operations for the country.

In Australia and New Zealand, Anzac Day commemoration features solemn “Dawn Services”, a tradition started in Albany, Western Australia on 25 April 1923and now held at war memorials around both countries, accompanied by thoughts of those lost at war to the ceremonial sounds of The Last Post on the bugle . The fourth stanza of Laurence Binyon’s poem For the Fallen (known as the “Ode of Remembrance “) is often recited.

Anzac Day is a national public holiday in Australia and is considered one of the most spiritual and solemn days of the year . Marches by veterans from all past wars, as well as current serving members of the Australian Defence Force and Reserves, with allied veterans as well as the Australian Defence Force Cadets and Australian Air League and supported by members of Scouts Australia, Guides Australia , and other uniformed service groups, are held in cities and towns nationwide. The Anzac Day Parade from each state capital is televised live with commentary. These events are generally followed by social gatherings of veterans, hosted either in a public house or in an RSL Club, often including a traditional Australian gambling game called two-up which was an extremely popular pastime with ANZAC soldiers. The importance of this tradition is demonstrated by the fact that though most Australian states have laws forbidding gambling outside of designated licensed venues, on Anzac Day it is legal to play “two-up”.

For young Australians and Kiwis in London Anzac Day is a day to gather together and enjoy the companionship of being with fellow Antipodeans. In the London Walkabout bars LMM arrange a strong line up of Australian and New Zealand cover bands playing a mixture of rock and pop party anthems with Australian and Kiwi rock anthems.

LMM arrange for a bugler to play the last post in each of the London Walkabouts and there is always a respectful silence as the bugler plays and the ode is read.In Australia

the increasingly carnival like atmosphere surrounding Anzac Day, now that young Australians have embraced the public holiday, has been critised by some people but as an Englishman I marvel at the patrotism displayed by a packed pub full of young Aussies who are able to be disciplined and serious enough to retain a minutes silence and in some small way commerate the sacrifices of their ancestors. I can not think of a similar English equivelent. It takes a major, recent, tragedy to quieten a football stadium and I cannot imagine trying to silence a packed pub full of inebriated English people to observe a minutes silence on Remembrance Day.

Staying with the military theme LMM enjoyed a fantastic night out at the CSE and The BFBS Big Salute Comedy Club on Monday April 27 on board the Tattershall Castle which is moored on the Thames outside Temple Walkabout.

This great comedy night was a charity fund raiser for 5 very deserving Forces charities…Combat Stress,Blesma,Veterans Aid,Headley Court and St Dunstans.Last year The Big Salute raised over £100,000 with military and MOD personnel all over the world taking part in fund raising events.

On Monday LMM were treating to an amazing line up of talent including Paul Tonkinson as compere and host for the evening,The Raymond and Mr Timpkins Revue,Ian Stone,Junior Simpson and Terry Alderton many of whom are familiar from their appearances on TV.

They were all brilliant .Tim,Alex and myself were all crying with laughter for most of the evening.

The boys from our great party band Lucas also joined us for a couple of quick shandys on the night. You can see video of Lucas live on stage at an overseas military event here http://www.lmmuk.com/band/Lucas

They are a fantastic live band for any military ball (they have tons of experience playing for the military) or indeed any wedding, event or party. Nice guys too!!
