Brainscape

Brainscape

Live Music Management have been lucky enough to supply acts to the Motorcycle News Weekend for over six years and this weekend just past we had four bands playing at Skegness Butlins for the annual biker bash.

Platform Six , Satisfunction,  Brainscape and Treacle (playing a specially tailored seventies set as opposed to their usual eclectic  mix) all took to the stage to a rapturous reception . For Platform Six and Brainscape this was a rebooking as both acts have played the MCN weekend in  previous years. It’s a show they all look forward to as the audience are a lively bunch who are out for a great weekend of entertainment and really get into the music. It gives the bands the opportunity to press down on the rock button as many of the rock anthems that they would leave out of their wedding band set would make perfect sense at a weekend like this.

The great thing about many of the LMM bands ,and certainly these four acts, is that they are very versatile. They are all London Wedding Bands that also play at corporate events and nightclubs , student university bookings and holiday parks. They have a wide set list and recognise the requirements of different types of audiences and are able to meet with the different demands of different types of events.

If you are looking for a London function band then you might want to consider one of the acts that played this weekends MCN weekend. They are all great acts with a long history of rocking audiences. If you are planning  a biker rally or similar style beer festival type of event then Treacle ,  Satisfunction,  Brainscape or Platform Six have got to be high on the list of the very best band to book.

For the bands themselves one of the things they have enjoyed this weekend is seeing their names on the back of the “tour style” t shirts produced by Motorcycle News in order to celebrate the weekend. It must be every bands dream to have their own tour T Shirt!

Call the Live Music Management office for the very best in function bands and rock bands for hire.

Punk Rock Weddings

Wednesday, February 6th, 2013

Themes come and go in the wedding industry and each season brings new trends. Over the last several years the buzz words “Vintage Wedding” have hung around and splintered into a myriad of new styles including 1940′s glamour , 1970s’ chic, 50′s rock n roll and more.Punk Rock Weddings can be seen as an off shoot of this. A niche to inspire creative couples with a rock n roll swagger.

Blogs like Rock n Roll Bride (who have previously featured Live Music Management Rockaoke , Bandeoke and party bands in their real life weddings sections) have been quick to feature Punk Rock Weddings as a trend and there are a hundreds of images on line of punk rock wedding dresses which is a clear sign that something is in the air.

Bridal gown designers like Washington DC’s Punk Rock Bride have a number of fashion forward collections to inspire the Bride looking for an alternative look that is both beautiful and slightly underground.

Although Live Music Management sneer a little at the mention of Sid And Nancy inspired Punk Rock Weddings (do these people not know how that particular relationship ended? They need to read up on their rock history a bit) we are genuinely thrilled to have played a small part in the trend in the UK by supplying properly alternative wedding bands.

What do we mean by Punk Rock Wedding bands?  Well if you look at the likes of Platform Six , The Dominoes , Lucas or Brainscape on the Live Music Management website you will see an indie rock wedding band with a repertoire that won’t scare Auntie Doris but will still be credible to those couples who’ve spent the last five Summers camping at rock festivals, reading NME and watching underground bands in sweaty rock clubs. Live Music Management are the UK’s foremost supplier of this kind of cover band that play all the big party rock anthems with the swagger of the original artists.

The other kind of act that very much fits the bill at a Punk Rock Wedding is Bandeoke also known as rockaoke or live band karaoke. Live Music Managements rock karaoke bands have been in demand at Punk Rock Weddings where the guests get to sing on stage with a live band , throw some rock shapes and have live out the rock star dream. Live Music Management were the originators of this kind of wedding entertainment in the UK and although much imitated we have the best live karaoke bands at the best prices.

LMM Musicians Receive The Afhanistan Medal

We posted some weeks ago about the news that three of our musicians were to receive the Afghanistan Medal for services to the troops overseas.

The medal is issued to people who have accumulated the qualifying number of days in theatre and was awarded by one of the most senior member of HM Forces, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Sir David Richards at a special ceremony.

Paul Brown who currently drums with Brainscape and has also played drums for Electric Mayhem and One Night Standeoke Rockaoke Band will be receiving the honour along with Doll Hunt and Sam Wilcock from Electric Mayhem.

It’s a great honour for the musicians involved and for Live Music Management. The LMM acts who currently play for the troops both here in the UK and overseas are rightly proud of this work. The benefit to the soldiers is probably best summed up by the enthusiastic  comments we receive from troops via the feedback forum on the function bands page on the Live Music Management site. Thanks to CSE for these opportunities and to the bands for their hard work.

On Brainscape

“Brainscape played 3 times at Leatherneck and Bastion Camp recently – great set, tight sound and lively, heavy rock – talented bunch of guys with balls – can play to all sorts of audiences – this one – soldiers and marines in Afghanistan being particularly hard bitten! Great moshing at the end and body surfing! I’d hire them again tomorrow.”

-Rob

“Saw brainscape in cyprus for CSE show absoloutly amazing. All musical areas covered hope to see them in uk sometime.”

On Electric Mayhem

“The Band were awesome; as expected.

-Dave Mcquir German Armed Forces”

“I have been quite an Electric Mayhem ‘fan’ since my spontaneous guitar hero session onboard HMS Iron Duke in the Falklands with the guys a few years ago!  It was great to see them play again at a friend’s wedding”

Live Music Management are very proud to be continuing our relationship with the Motorcycle News Live Weekends by supplying two great rock bands for this years event in Skegness Butlins on the weekend of April 20 to 23.

As in previous years the MCN weekend will be attracting several thousand bikers to Skeg Vegas for a weekend of bike related mayhem and music.

Brainscape are getting a return booking to this great weekend with a performance on April 20 that will allow the band to get back to their rock roots and turn the amps up to 11. You can expect to hear the band rocking out with the meatier songs from their set and I would be very surprised if their jaw dropping version of Rage Against The Machines Killing In The Name Of didn’t make an appearance.

On April 21 Platform Six party band will be taking to the stage with their full on rock set and highlights will be a plenty for fans of both classic rock and modern rock based indie.

If you are of  biker orientation then there is no way you can miss this weekend. There are still some tickets on sale from the MCN news site and we would suggest you get down there. You may even see some of the LMM team with our air guitars and heads in the speakers!

Booking A Band For A Wedding Overseas

Monday, March 12th, 2012

bride

If you are getting married overseas you may be considering booking a UK party band to play at your wedding but unsure of the mechanics of making this work.

Live Music Management supply live bands to many events overseas. In the past month or so we have sent live bands to play for the troops in Afghanistan , Cyprus and Germany as well as booking a couple of acts into events in Romania. Later in the year we have a live band booked for a wedding in Lake Como and another for a wedding party in Oslo. Our experience in hiring bands for overseas events tells us that there are a number of factors to take into consideration.

Bands need a certain amount of equiptment in order to play a show. This includes all their instruments but also PA system (which amplifies the vocals and , at larger weddings , the backline instruments like drums and bass.) They will probably need stage lighting too.

If the event is in France or Germany it may be possible for the band to travel by van with all equiptment in their van however the travel time and petrol needs to be factored into the price of hire. It may also be that the band cannot fit the travel time into a busy schedule.

An easy solution is often to fly the band to the event or wedding. They will be able to take their guitars on the flight with them. All other equiptment would need to be hired localy. There are equiptment hire companies in most areas. If you are using a local wedding planner they will be able to speak to the local hire company and get a quote for you based on the bands technical rider. If not it may well be that Live Music Management can sort this for you as we have contacts throughout Europe and some Italian , French , Portugese, Spanish and German speaking people in our team of DJs and sound engineers.

Besides the equiptment hire you will also have to take into consideration local transfers, hotels, food and soft drink whilst overseas.

For accurate quotes and options on the best band for your overseas wedding please call the LMM office on 08454 900515 .

Entertainment For Military Balls

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Live Music Management have a long history of supplying live bands and party DJs to military events both here in the UK and overseas.

If you were to make a  list of the places you would think it least likley to see a Live Music Management band then I would think Afghanistan would be close to the top and yet we have two bands playing in Afghanistan for the troops this month. Party band Brainscape have just returned from a tour and Andy Walton from power duo Front Cover is about to embark on a series of dates starting this week.

In conjunction with CSE we are very proud to have sent cover bands to entertain the troops in many parts of the world including Cyprus, Jakarta , The Falklands ,Germany etc etc. We are very aware that these tours are a welcome break from the rigours of duty for our troops and often receive thank you emails from service men and women.

“ Saw brainscape in cyprus for CSE show absoloutly amazing. All musical areas covered hope to see them in uk sometime.”

“I first saw Sam and Andy whilst deployed to Afghanistan in Kandahar and thought they were fantastic. I was lucky enough to see them again whilst going through decompression in Cyprus in early Dec”

“Just saw you in Cyprus and you did a fantastic set….thanks…”

If you are organising bands for a military ball then live music management represent all the key acts that play events overseas and in the UK for the troops . With names like Electric Mayhem , Lucas , Front Cover , One Night Standeoke Rockaoke Band , Front Cover and Brainscape.

If you want further details of the quality bands to hire please call 08454 900515 or email info@lmmuk.com

Bank Holiday Thank You To All Our DJs And Bands

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011
Whilst the nation rests...LMM acts are working

Whilst the nation rests...LMM acts are working

It’s been a very busy couple of weeks for LMM DJs and bands with two bank holidays and the Royal Wedding Friday.

LMM would like to take this opportunity to thank all the DJs and bands who have worked so hard in the past couple of weeks traveling up and down the country to shows at nightclubs, parties, weddings and other events.

It’s not often acknowledged that when most people are having a day off or a night out the entertainers are at their busiest and the past few weeks with extra bank holidays have meant that we had literally hundreds of DJs and bands working whilst lots of people outside the business were having a well deserved rest.

Despite the huge quantity of shows we had booked the last few weeks we had remarkably few problems (and I should know because by chance it was my turn to be on first call which means that I would be the first one to answer the LMM emergency number.)

Apart from a DJ stuck in a bit of traffic and calling to say he might be fifteen minutes late (he then texted me from the venue two minutes after his allotted start time so he wasn’t too late) the emergency number has been silent.

We did have some extra dates come in over the weekend and our thanks go out to Radar,Soul Policy,Brainscape and Hollywood who promptly got back to LMM and agreed to travel some distance to fulfill the extra bookings which had arisen through enquiries over the weekend.

I would just sign off by saying “thank you all” to the DJs and bands that have made these past two weekends stress free and say that the reports we have back so far are all praising you to the hilt for the great job you have made of entertaining people in our various venues.

We salute you!

Brainscape Live At Sheffield Walkabout

Friday, January 21st, 2011

While the boys from Brainscape take a well deserved rest back in their native Brazil LMM thought we would take this opportunity to pay homage to this great band.

Since first working for LMM several years ago they have gone from strength to strength and they are a band who gain fans at every venue they play.

They arrive back in the UK next week and will be ready to rock the nation again with their mixed set list which extends from awesome versions of pop and rock tunes like the version of Blink 182 “All The Small Things “, caught on the mobile phone video, above to funky party songs.

We have sent this great band to so many shows where the client and/or venue have asked for them back.

At LMM we really rate this band….listen to the way they go into the Shania Twain song in the video above..tease the audience…and then go into a rocked up version of “livin On A Prayer” …sheer genius!  Watch the video above for great versions of Queen songs etc and remember this is just a video taken on a mobile phone by the DJ at the Sheffield Walkabout. He does a great job but he is not the BBC outside broadcast unit with fancy equipment….this is raw and live…undoctored and brilliant.

To book Brainscape either call the LMM office or email info@lmmuk.com    To browse their web page check out Brainscape here or browse the rock and pop section of the LMM site for more options on great live bands to hire

You can see great live bands at the Walkabout in Sheffield every Saturday night where DJ Lenny Sultana spins the records and the bands get the place rocking….if you are ever in Sheffield call in for a great night out.A great band and a great DJ..what more could you want?

LMM Function and Tribute Acts Playing Overseas On Dec 10 2010

Friday, December 10th, 2010

LMM have five amazing acts playing overseas this evening. Our brilliant Sinatra tribute act and one of our U2 tribute bands are both playing events in Romania. The U2 tribute band event takes place in Romanias largest film studio and will involve a large production show for over 400 guests.

Five piece function band Sugar Shack play a nightclub event in the same country. They will be rocking the house at an upscale nightclub in Bucharest.

Over in Norway our ABBA tribute band are playing a massive corporate function.Which is a bit like taking coals to Newcastle..taking an ABBA tribute to Scandinavia.

Meanwhile Brainscape are in sunnier climes playing a military event for the troops. They arrive back in the UK tomorrow for a series of UK nighclub , Christmas function bookings (including a big one for PWC) and a wedding.

We have several other acts playing overseas next week including some exciting news about a major Romanian TV show which we will be supplying an Elvis and a Sinatra Tribute for….great news both for the acts and for LMM.

The name of the show is “InTrecerea Anilor” (roughly translated as “The Contest of the years”). This is an international format owned by Endemol which airs under names like “I Migliori Anni” (Italy) or “Les Annees Bonheur” (France) and it will be filmed in the TVR Studios. This show is currently the biggest show in Europe so its a big deal(think X Factor scale viewing figures in the host country.)We will blog more about this next week.

…air miles boys and girls….save those air miles!!!
