During the past thirteen years of Live Music Managements existence we have supplied function bands and DJs to well over five thousand weddings as well as  supplying entertainment to countless parties and events.These have ranged in scale from a massive wedding in India with over 3,000 guests to small intimate affairs with forty or so guests.

Over the years LMM have picked up lots of ideas from enterprising and imaginative brides and grooms who have created wonderful parties for their wedding guests and in this blog we will outline our favourite low cost wedding ideas.

1.Sparkler Archway

At a recent wedding as the bride and groom left to go on honeymoon all the guest lined up with sparklers and created an archway of light for them to walk through.It was a beautiful sight and cost very little.It also gave structure to the leaving of the bride and groom.A formal fair well.

2.Candy Store

A table beautifully laid out with old fashioned sweets and a weighing scale doesn’t cost much but was a talking point for all the adult guests at a wedding last year as people remembered the sweets of their youth (flying saucers? Wham Bars?) Of course the kids loved it and kept visiting as much to play shop as to eat sweets.

3.Memory Books And Polaroid Camera

A message book on a table,an old fashioned Polaroid camera which prints out instant photos,some double sided sticky tape.An instant hit with guests and a brilliant way of capturing some of the evenings festivities.

4.If Booking A Band Book An LMM Band To Supply Interval Music

If you are booking a live band the vast majority of LMM bands will supply recorded music over their PA system in between the live sets and for  the duration of the party.This will save on the cost of a DJ.Bands have very good PA systems and the majority have good light systems which will illuminate the dancefloor.All bands have playlists built up from playing previous weddings and parties but another top tip is to create a playlist from your guest requests to play over the bands PA system during their break.

5.Book A Top Quality DJ

If booking a DJ make sure you book a top quality DJ.This will not be the cheapest option available but it also doesn’t need to be the most expensive.What it will do is ensure that your guests get a great nights entertainment and that they will leave talking about what a fabulous party they have had.Often hotels will offer a cheap option for the DJ but these DJs are sometimes not the best quality.LMM DJs have experience of playing nightclubs,parties,weddings and events.Often if a DJ has been playing the same wedding venue for years you will find they are in a rut and complacent.You need a DJ who will treat your wedding reception as a special booking and not part of a job lot of low paid work.
