With December just a few short days away Live Music Managements efforts are very much concentrated on ensuring that the Christmas party entertainment we have in place in the very many venues that we look after is as good as previous years. Fantastic party DJs are being booked and confirmed for our high street clients along with many exciting peripherals like snow cannons and Christmas themed decorations. A good number of our regular clients are using live music in order to make their Christmas party entertainment the best that it can be (and with live party bands and swing bands based throughout the UK Live Music Management are well placed to ensure that you get the best band at the best price for your party.)

The Highlight Comedy club Christmas shows begin this weekend with a great value night of comedy, food and music available at a very reasonable price. Highlight comedy shows are the perfect Christmas party solution for the small business or group of friends wanting to book a top quality evening of entertainment without the expense of paying for the venue hire, cost of comedians, catering and price of DJ.If you attend a Highlight show this December you will see a Live Music Management DJ entertaining the crowd after the comedy (they also run the sound for the comedy show.)

Besides our regular fifty two weeks per year clients there are a number of clients that we only hear from at Christmas when they book the entertainment for their annual Xmas bash. Just yesterday I confirmed and contracted Sugar Shack function band for a large company Christmas party which we have had the pleasure of booking entertainment into for almost ten years now. This will be Sugar Shacks first outing for this client but they have had a great band from Live Music Management every year since the early 2000′s.

Another regular Christmas client hired Duke party band late last week for their event on December 8.

Live Music Management tend to find this time of year is pretty busy with Rockaoke aka Bandeoke or Live Karaoke Band bookings as many corporate clients enjoy a good old Christmas sing a long with one of our great Karaoke Bands and we have a number of acts booked out over the festive period.

One thing that we have noticed in the past four years is that December bookings seem to get later and later and we are still getting phone calls about availability for New Years Eve bands and bands on key dates in December. With Halloween and Bonfire Night out of the way Live Music Managements attentions are turned in earnest to the up coming Christmas festivities. Much of our work load this week has been assigning and booking Christmas DJs into our High Street venues like Walkabout, Maluko,Wahoo and Bar Risa. Christmas and New Years Eve require the best DJs available in order to amp up the party to the max and make sure the party goers have the best possible night. Many of our party DJs have been planning special nights with count downs to Midnight, games with giveaways and special playlists. Speaking to one DJ this week he even had his post Midnight playlist planned as he was intending building up to Midnight with the best songs of the year and straight after playing some festive songs at Midnight he has planned to play the number one song of 2012 (I can’t reveal what this is as it will spoil the surprise!)

So lots of forward thinking by the Christmas party DJ working in the High Street bars and clubs.

The students have just arrived at Universities up and down the land,the nights are drawing in and the leaves are falling off the trees.

What this means to the Live Music Management office is that our thoughts and our plans turn to Christmas entertainment scheduling for both for the chain of bars that we look after and for the many private clients, corporate clients and events companies who use our services, live party bands and mobile DJs.

Many clients will plan their Christmas entertainment several months in advance. In particular the hotel market who will need to print brochures and other advertising materials and begin the selling of tickets back in April or May in order to have the whole Summer and Autumn to sell tickets. Tribute Bands are a favourite of the hotel market. Likewise tickets for the Highlight Christmas Comedy shows have been on sale for some months and it looks like being a great Xmas season in these brilliant venues.

One off parties and promotions which do not rely on advance ticket sales are just beginning to hire Christmas entertainment . Live Music Managements services are popular for the hire of Christmas function bands , DJS, Rockaoke (aka Bandeoke or Live Karaoke Bands) as well as stilt walkers and fire breathers and other pieces of entertainment. Following on from yesterdays blog about ideas for Christmas parties I was reminded of an act we put together two years ago for an all day Christmas event (we ended up getting them some work last year as well.)

A retail venue was in need of some Christmas carolers but they didn’t want traditional carol singers. They were keen to get a pop rock band singing Christmas songs which they felt sure would reflect their modern brand and younger clientele.

LMM were keen and quick to oblige and we put together a band of musicians who were able to provide backing for the four rock pop singers that we chose to front the act.

The venue received an all day event with rolling sets of forty minutes length with twenty minute breaks. Two female and two male singers took turn to take lead vocals with the other singers singing backing vocals. The set list comprised all the key Christmas anthems from John Lennons Merry Xmas (war is over) to Mariah Careys All I Want For Christmas back to Slades Merry Christmas and every point between.

The day was a brilliant success and another example of Live Music Management creating a bespoke solution to an entertainment requirement.

Many of our clients return year on year to recieve advice and ideas for the very best in Christmas entertainment for their party.

Here are our top five tips for booking quality entertainment for your Christmas office party.

1. Don’t leave it too late!  Many Hotel chains and other venues start planning their Christmas schedule back in April as their brochures are distributed and tickets go on sale in May. That said a quality entertainment agency like Live Music Management will be able to advice you of the available acts for your event.

2. Look at the age range of your party and consider what kind of act will work with the maximum number of people present. Live Music Management have a wide range of cover bands and DJs that can play a broad mix of music across the decades. Consider what kind of band would work best.

3. Are you looking to create a lively atmosphere or will the music be a backdrop to a dinner or drinks? Live Music Management can advice you on acts able to offer either and some able to offer both.

4. Is the party going to have a theme? In many cases Live Music Management can offer bands or DJs to dress or play music (or both!) to the theme of the party. For instance in 2010 we supplied acts to black and white balls where the act dressed accordingly. This may not be apparent from the acts webpage so give us a call! Many of our acts can play Christmas songs suitable for parties.

September is always an exciting time in the calendar for our High Street clients like Walkabout,Bar Risa,Wahoo,TPs,Pitcher and Piano,Highlight and Rewind.

As the new Student year begins there is a whole new level of activity with extra bodies choosing which bars and night clubs will be their favoured haunts over the next twelve months.

LMM have been kept busy supplying top quality DJs , live cover bands and Rockaoke/Bandeoke bands fo these events which have been happening pretty much every night of the week in venues up and down the UK from Glasgow down to Plymouth.
