A big thank you to all the Live Music Management DJs who attended the Midlands area meeting yesterday at Birmingham Walkabout. A special thanks goes out to Lee Campbell who is resident DJ in Highlight and Walkabout up in Edinburgh. Lee travelled all the way from Newcastle in order to attend the meeting and his contribution was valued by the team there.
Looking around the room at the Birmingham Walkabout meeting it was pleasing to see the top DJs on Broad Street in attendance and continuing their good work for Live Music Management, Walkabout and Bar Risa. Legendary names like Justin James and Pete Sherrif are known to most DJs in the area and are well respected as top of their game. Justin James deserves special mention as he has worked the Birmingham Walkabout venue for well over twelve years and is our longest serving DJ. He has retained his position despite dozens of management changes etc over the years and is still widely regarded as one of the key DJs in Birmingham. (By the way if this makes Justin sound like an old codger I have to point out that he hasn’t aged in the past twelve years either!)
It was also especially heartening to see the new breed of DJs in attendance and picking up tips from the old guard. Aaron has been training alongside Chris Lauriella and about to take up some residency work for LMM. At twenty one he represents the future of DJing and is able to programme a dub step night just as easily as a commercial party night. Elliot is a new kid on the block and will continue to grow as a DJ learning from some of the best.
Live Music Management are particularly keen to meet and audition young DJs. If you feel you are good enough to DJ in some of the UKs top High Street brands then please contact info@lmmuk.comor call 08454 900515 We offer a training programme for young DJs with the right attitude and skill sets.
