A great big thank you to the ladies and gentlemen of Nottingham University Cripps Hall for their gracious hospitality last night at their Uni Ball.
LMM were there with Nat King Bing who had been booked to provide some walk on music whilst the student awards were given out followed by their set of rock and pop covers played in a jazz style.
The Cripps Hall ball was a beautiful, stylish affair with everyone in evening dress and looking their absolute best.
It was held at Colwick Hall Hotel on Racecourse Road which advertises itself as Nottinghams best kept secret.Certainly, and despite having spent a great deal of time in the Nottinghamshire area with friends and family,I had never heard of it before.
Colwick Hall is a fantastic venue.A grand old country house hotel on the banks of a lilly pad lake it was a splendid setting for a Summers evening of good food, great company and jazz swing music.
The students took to the dancefloor to dance with partners which is something only jazz swing music really encourages and with the black tie affair it seemed appropriate to hear the band playing Sex Is On Fire and Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor in a jazz style. There may even have been a couple of proper salsa dancers amongst the students because we saw some great moves during the Latino version of The Killers “Somebody Told Me.”
Anyway it was a great night last night..hope all the Cripps Hall chaps and chapesses enjoyed it.Thanks again to Carl and the Cripps Hall gang for using LMM and for booking Nat King Bing.
