Brainscape

Brainscape

Live Music Management have been lucky enough to supply acts to the Motorcycle News Weekend for over six years and this weekend just past we had four bands playing at Skegness Butlins for the annual biker bash.

Platform Six , Satisfunction,  Brainscape and Treacle (playing a specially tailored seventies set as opposed to their usual eclectic  mix) all took to the stage to a rapturous reception . For Platform Six and Brainscape this was a rebooking as both acts have played the MCN weekend in  previous years. It’s a show they all look forward to as the audience are a lively bunch who are out for a great weekend of entertainment and really get into the music. It gives the bands the opportunity to press down on the rock button as many of the rock anthems that they would leave out of their wedding band set would make perfect sense at a weekend like this.

The great thing about many of the LMM bands ,and certainly these four acts, is that they are very versatile. They are all London Wedding Bands that also play at corporate events and nightclubs , student university bookings and holiday parks. They have a wide set list and recognise the requirements of different types of audiences and are able to meet with the different demands of different types of events.

If you are looking for a London function band then you might want to consider one of the acts that played this weekends MCN weekend. They are all great acts with a long history of rocking audiences. If you are planning  a biker rally or similar style beer festival type of event then Treacle ,  Satisfunction,  Brainscape or Platform Six have got to be high on the list of the very best band to book.

For the bands themselves one of the things they have enjoyed this weekend is seeing their names on the back of the “tour style” t shirts produced by Motorcycle News in order to celebrate the weekend. It must be every bands dream to have their own tour T Shirt!

Call the Live Music Management office for the very best in function bands and rock bands for hire.

Platform Six On Stage In Romania

Platform Six On Stage In Romania

Platform Six (or PSix as we call them in the office!) are a great four piece band who have played shows for us for about five years. The line up has changed a little in that period but what has remained the same is the quality of the musicianship, the brilliance of the showmanship and the proffessionalism of the members of the band.

LMM are working alongside Adam the manager of Shepherds Bush Walkabout to organise a charity relief event at Shepherds Bush Walkabout on Saturday January 29.

Our last big charity event for the forest fires was a huge success in raising money for the victims . See blog http://www.lmmuk.com/agentblog/?p=13

We have had an amazing response from our Australian acts based in London who have offered their time and talent for the day for free in order to provide us with an incredible line up which consists of some of the best rock pop party bands in the UK plus a couple of very talented original acts. There will be some more acts almost certainly added to the line up before we launch but we are overwhelmed by the generosity of the acts so far…most of them will have to rush to other shows after performing at Shepherds Bush Walkabout.

Tim is in touch with Australia’s Channel 9 station (the biggest TV station in Australia) who did a piece on our last event and we look forward to some good TV coverage of the event.

Start times are TBC

Wedding Genie Wedding Planning Service

Wedding Genie Wedding Planning Service

We received the following email from The Wedding Genie today and with her permission I have reproduced the email along with the answers to her questions re an up coming Platform Six http://www.lmmuk.com/band/Platform+Six wedding as it forms a helpful guide to Brides about frequently asked questions re live music at weddings…all weddings (and acts) are different and have unique challenges but the following email covers many of the common questions.

The Wedding Genie offers a service to help take the stress out of the wedding night. You can visit her website here www.theweddinggenie.co.uk and you will find some helpful tips on her wedding blog here www.theweddinggenie.co.uk/news

“Forgive the intrusion but I have been booked by Caoimhe and James to help them in the month leading up to their wedding and to be there on the wedding day to help make sure everything goes smoothly.

If it’s ok would you be able to confirm a few details for me.

  • The Wedding Breakfast room has to be turned around for the evening and a dance floor laid. The end of the wedding breakfast should be around 7pm and they wanted to start again around 7.30 which is a bit ambitious. The venue staff have to lay a dance floor which they say only takes 20 mins tops to do and to clear the room. We wanted to see how long it takes for your set up and what time you will be arriving. Unfortunately there is no space for you to set up first so it has to be at seven. The guests will be taken to a totally different area whilst the turn round is going on. There is a side door which you can bring your kit through and then not far into the room to carry equipment.   arrival is at 6pm currently but I will get the band on site a little later (6.30)…..it will take the guys 40 mins to set up.

  • What do you need in terms of power and space? I have attached a picture of the venue for you so you can see the layout. As you look at the picture the dance floor will be in the middle and they were thinking it would be good for you to set up in one of the arches. Would that be ok for you? Thats fine…..so long as we have access to four power points and if we can have an 8 foot deep x 16 foot area for stage that would be great

  • James tell me that you play for three sessions. In between they have an IPOD list which they are compiling. Do you control this like a Dj? or do they need to be sure a guest of nominated person checks on the tracks and the order etc.  If the client is preparing an ipod with playlists we will make sure we look after it….no need for a guest to check it.

  • What do you need in terms of food etc, do you eat from the buffet which will be at 9.30 or there abouts. Of course drinks will be provided by the couple. if you were able to plate up a little food for us that would be even better as we sometimes miss out on buffet as its close to performance time…..but no major issue if not

  • The first dance is a Joss Stone song, do you play that through the PA and will you put that on? The evening will then commence. Caoimhe had not worked out the sessions but said you were super flexible. They thought the sessions would be split evenly. What are your thoughts on this and what break do you need in between sessions. Do you do 3 x 40 mins sessions or 2 one hour sessions? we can do either 3 x 40 or 2 x 60 dependant upon what you feel will work best (we ussually find 2 x 60 mins works best)….so long as we have a minimum of 15 minutes between sets thats fine.

  • They also asked me what you bring in terms of equipment, like lights etc if there is any. we bring basic stage lighting

Apologies for the questions, just want to be sure you are looked after. I produce a timeline for the day which i send to all the suppliers so its super useful to understand the details. Hope you don’t mind.
