Top Ten Books About Music

As we fast approach Christmas here is a public service blog. A top ten to help anyone looking to buy a perfect book for a music lover. I’ve read God knows how many books about music over the years (at the last count I owned over ten books about The Beach Boys alone!) and when I am not booking wedding bands for events or mobile DJs for club bookings I am often reading about the music world beyond the function band.

Here is our list of some of the best books about pop music. A great top ten for anyone looking to load their kindle with some good reads for the Christmas season.

1.Giles Smith-Lost In Music

2.Nick Tosches- Hellfire The Story Of Jerry Lee Lewis

3.Nick Tosches-Dino Living High In The Dirty Business Of Dreams (the story of swing singer Dean Martin)

4.Keith Richards-Life

5.Nic Cohen-Triksta (great book about hip hop and New Orleans)

6. David Crosby-Long Time Gone (the ultimate rock star goes to rehab story)

7.Peter Ames Carlin-Catch A Wave The Rise Fall and Redemption Of The Beach Boys Brian Wilson

8. Legs McNeill and Gillian MCCaine-Please Kill Me-An Uncensored History Of Punk

9.The Beatles Anthology Book

10.Paul Morley- Words And Music-The Story Of Music In The Shape Of A City

So there you have it. A far cry from the bands for hire blogs which we ussually write but hopefully as Xmas approaches you might find something of interest in the list above. Many of the books are about heritage bands but this is I guess because Justin Beiber hasn’t yet had the life to make hi biog interesting (if you want to read about the Justin Beiber of his day then the David Cassidy autobiography is a bit of an eye opener!!!!!)

Maybe there is room for a second top ten list at a later date but for now have a great weekend.
