Retro Fever Temple Walkabout

Wednesday, September 19th, 2012

Live Music Management love the video created by one of our DJs above which illustrates the great night you will have if you attend the Retro Fever night at Temple Walkabout down on the Thames Embankment.

There is always something happening down at the Walkabout and the first Friday in the month is especially exciting with guest tribute acts like Freddie Mercury , Britney Spears and Michael Jackson rocking the house.

The Freddie Mercury night on October 6  is going to be a blast with over 600 Freddie Mustaches being given away during the night. The atmosphere is bound to be a kinda magic (see what I did there?) Our Michael Jackson tribute will be playing down there on November 2 and this will tie in nicely with our Halloween theme and it’s going to be a Thriller of a show (hey there’s a theme repeating here!!)  The first Friday in December we have Britney Spears in the house and you will be able to  shout ”hit me baby one more time” for the best in retro action.

Live Music Management are very excited about the re opening of Temple Walkabout this week.

This great venue on the North Bank of the Thames, with a view of the London Eye and some of the  most iconic London sites, re opens on Australia Day after a massive refurbishment programme.

LMM have supplied some fantastic party bands for the opening weekend including Australian favourites The Hi Fidels and Electric Mayhem for the January 26 Australia Day celebrations which kick off in the afternoon. These bands will be playing Aussie  anthems and rock classics alongside Aussie DJ Yaxman who will be hosting proceedings from 3pm through to the early hours.

On Friday 28 January Retro Fever hits Temple Walkabout with the chance to see and meet two of the UKs top tribute acts . Navi will be performing as Michael Jackson and our brilliant Robbie Williams tribute will be entertaining you. DJ Mr T will be the host for the evening. Expect also some surprises with fire eaters, angle grinders and stilt walkers in the venue.

Saturdays entertainment includes top covers band Insomnia bringing their cool party anthems to the stage and DJ Mike Wedgewood spinning the tunes.

The second room at Temple will be open Friday and Saturday with two of Londons coolest DJs mixing the hits of the past couple of years. DJ Amia is working the Fridays from 10pm and DJ Krystal Rocks (who is currently riding high in the charts with Taio Cruz ) working the Saturdays.

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

This week sees our fantastic Stone Roses tribute band headline in the Jaks room at Skegness Butlins Twentys Reunion weekend 2011 (also known as the Naughty Reunion Weekend). You can watch video of the UKs number one Stone Roses tribute above.

The line up at this years Twentys Reunion weekend is as impressive as ever with main stage headline sets from Wretch 32, Labrinth, S Club and DJ Fresh etc etc. Our Stone Roses tribute are bound to be a crowd puller on Saturday playing alongside another great Live Music Management party band, The Hoops ,in the stag party room.

We have other acts playing on the Friday in the Hen Party room which will feature great live music from Platform Six and a Take That tribute band wowing the ladies.

A few weeks ago we blogged at length about the Steps and Stone Roses reunion tours. It was, mostly, a mickey take and the LMM office have a great deal of respect for The Stone Roses who are one of the iconic bands of the 90s generation.  You can often find us bopping around the office to Fools Gold and even the Second Coming finds a place on the office stereo from time to time.

If you want to book a Stone Roses Tribute for your next event then give the office a call.

Steps VS The Stone Roses-Which Band Is Best? The LMM Top Ten.

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

stone roses

The big news in the music industry at present is the reformation of two giants of 20th century pop. Both bands were icons for their generation but which comeback tour should you buy tickets for…The Stone Roses or Steps?  LMM have taken a little time out to outline the case for each band.

1. Both bands invented  dance crazes. With The Stone Roses it was the “simian stroll” much loved by Manc front men like Liam Gallagher and Tim Burgess and copied by lads everywhere. The Steps gave us the 5,6,7,8 line dance and the Tragedy wedding dance. So Steps are the clear winners here.

2.Both acts appropriated traditional music and made something of their own with it. The Stone Roses took Olde English favourite folk song, “Parsley Sage Rosemary And Tyme” and made it into album filler “Elizabeth My Dear.” The canny Steps looked across to the USA line dance craze and updated the country sound to give us the mighty 5,6,7,8.

3. Both bands have encountered H in a bathroom (probably!)  Steps

4.The Stone Roses struggled to follow up their classic first album and took five years to come up with Second Coming which had mixed reviews and sold below expectations. Steps knocked out Steptacular in a couple of afternoons and it went 4 x platinum spawning a bunch of hit singles.

5. Steps were the most successful touring act of 2000 whereas The Stone Roses were booed off stage at the Reading Festival due to Ian Browns poor vocals which led to the NME saying”I am The Ressurection was more like The Eternal Cruxification.”

6. When H and Claire left the band stating that they felt Steps had reached their artistic peak   Steps split up. When Manni left The Roses they staggered on with a new drummer. Then John Squires left and they drafted in Simply Reds guitarist to knock out a few more dates. Steps win hands down for integrity.

7.Both bands started out on indie labels…….but they both took the wonga and signed to majors.

8. After The Stone Roses John Squires formed the half decent Seahorses and made a so so album. He then retired from public life (we think!) Renni was never seen or heard of again. Manni joined Primal Scream (hurrah!) and Ian Brown has released six solo albums. Steps have made several TV shows including “Steps To The Stars” giving young people the chance to break into show business (this is nothing like the X Factor by the way.) H and Claire signed a £5 million deal with Warners!

9. Steps are playing tons of shows and tickets are flying out. Stone Roses are playing two mega Manchester dates.

10. Only Steps have been brave enough to cover ABBA…not once but twice.

So there you have it. The facts as they stand are above. Now its time to make your mind up….is the Stones Roses reunion “Fools Gold” or a proper Ressurection ? Is The Steps tour a “tragedy” or is it really “steptacular?”
