Cotswolds Wedding Entertainment

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

Live Music Management were with the fabulous wedding band The Hi Fidels on Thursday night at the VIP re opening of Cardiff Walkabout. They played a fantastic set of cover songs which struck the perfect note with an upbeat, fun set that got everyone in a great mood.

The Hi Fidels guitar player and singer is from Australia where he had worked as a jobbing musician before landing in the UK ten years ago and marrying a girl from Swindon. We were discussing the bands home base and The Hi Fidels were pointing out how perfectly situated it was for weddings and parties held in the Cotswolds. As an Australian the band leader had been so impressed by the great wedding venues he had played at in the Cotwolds and surrounding area. The luxurious country house hotels and brilliant barns, the private residencies set in lovely countryside. He felt privileged to have visited so many of them and recognised that one of the great things about providing wedding entertainment is that you get to visit places that, perhaps, ordinarily you would not get to see.

If you are looking for Cotswolds wedding entertainment then I would make The Hi Fidels one of your first stops. They are a fantastic party band and a nice set of guys who appreciate the work that clients give them.

I will leave the last words to a client who left this review for The Hi Fidels

“I have left a review on the page that you sent me a link for but I also wanted to send a quick message to you directly. We really enjoyed the whole evening at our wedding and lots of that was down to how fantastic the Hi Fidels were. Lots of our guests of all ages commented on how fantastic they were and how much they enjoyed dancing. They even let my friends pretend to be in the band when they weren’t playing posing with the instruments, didn’t flinch when another friend got up and joined in on the microphone during the proclaimers and gave me a drum roll for throwing the bouquet! Thank you for an amazing night of entertainment.”

Hire A Professional Wedding Band

Tuesday, August 21st, 2012

bride

Almost every week during the Summer Live Music Management gets calls from distraught brides and grooms who have been let down by the band they have hired, or indeed thought they had hired, for their wedding. Invariably the wedding band they have been let down by is a mates band or an act suggested by friends. It is almost never one of the many recognised professional wedding bands in the UK.

There are a good many reasons why brides and grooms should avoid booking amateur bands for their weddings. First and foremost is reliability . Although the only evidence I hold is the amount of panic calls we get for last minute bookings it does appear that many non pro acts are lax when it comes to sticking to bookings.

When booking a professional wedding band from an agency such as Live Music Management the following benefits will be available to you

1. Agents Association recognised contract.

2.Secure deposits held in a clients account until after the show date.

3.Band will have the necessary documents to allow them to play. Public liability insurance and PAT certificates are required by many venues before the band can play. We have heard stories of bands turning up without these and not been allowed to play.

4. Help and advice from the Live Music Management events team who have over forty years combined experience of providing live acts to weddings , parties , night clubs and events.

5. A fantastic live band who have been vetted by our team and who have proved themselves to be reliable and professional.

6. Emergency help from Live Music Management should there be any last minute issues.

This blog has concentrated soley on the reliability factors to be considered when booking a band who do not play weddings week after week. It goes without saying that a pro band will have more suitable material and a skill level suited to playing at an important wedding day.

The Present Party Band

Friday, July 13th, 2012

Today’s blog is about an individual band that have been causing quite a stir at the shows they have played over the past twelve months. Personally I hadn’t seen the band in the flesh until about six months ago (my colleague Alex had been raving about them for sometime after auditioning them in London and I had seen the videos.) My first taste of The Present live was at a VIP event on the Thames Embankment. They didnt have to play more than a few bars of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” before I knew we had something special on our hands. The Present are a great party band

The Present combine great musicianship with superb vocals and stage prescence. Their experience of playing a variety of venues has provided them with the chops to turn any evening into a party and that’s exactly what they did on the evening that I caught them live.

The Present are one of Live Music Managements top wedding bands for weddings in the Essex and home counties. They are perfect for corporate events and feel as comfortable on a big stage as they do performing as a function band in a small venue. The Present have played for Prince William and supported a number of large acts like Westlife , Robbie Williams and Bucks Fizz.

Check out this great cover band if you are looking to hire a band in the near future. The Present can also be hired to provide an evening of Rockaoke aka Bandeoke or Live Band Karaoke.

June Brides Wedding Band Hire

June Bride

June Bride

Sorry we haven’t blogged for a while .Live Music Management, like many other businesses, are just catching up after the extended Diamond Jubilee weekend which we thoroughly enjoyed but which left us with a full inbox!

With June having arrived the wedding season is now in full swing. We really feel for our clients who have planned their June weddings with a view to having nice weather as the temperatures keep fluctuating and the rain keeps coming. At LMM we held a BBQ on June 2 and we were only able to take the marquee down yesterday as it was so wet after the weekend. The BBQ itself wasn’t spoiled but come midnight the rains started and have not really stopped since.

We had dozens of bands playing weddings over the bank holiday weekend and the weekend of June 8/9 with hundreds more planned over the Summer. We have our fingers crossed for better weather. At Live Music Management we can do very little about the weather but we can promise you the best wedding bands for hire in the UK.

If you are looking for last minute musicians for your Summer 2012 wedding then please call the LMM office on 08454 900515 as we have a number of great options for last minute wedding band hire on most weekends over the Summer.

Wedding Band Reviews

Hi Fidels Wedding Band Review

Hi Fidels Wedding Band Review

One of the things we look forward to on a Monday morning (or in this case on a Tuesday morning after the May Bank Holiday) is the feedback from the weekends shows.

We have a variety of ways of retrieving feedback.

Our regular clients like Walkabout and Bar Risa are obliged to fill in a feedback form at site level which gives us the SP on the weekend in quite a bit of detail. Specific questions asked include

“Were the acts on time?”

“Did the acts perform to the standards that we expect?”

“How did the audience react?”

With regards to private clients we ask everyone of them to review both our services and the acts performance. We do not doctor these. Indeed we offer links to review sites that we have no control of. We figure that we are confident that the good will far out weigh the bad and in over twelve years of trading this has always been the case.

Here is an email that came in today with a review for a wedding band.

“We’ve just posted a review online so hopefully you should have that through.  We were absolutely thrilled with the band.  Many thanks to you for sorting out the arrangements and please pass on our personal thanks to the band as well – we really couldn’t have been happier with their professionalism and energy on the night, everyone loved them.

We will certainly recommend both LMM and the Hi-Fidels to others.

Thanks again

Laura & Bren”

Brightside Party Band

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

Hope everyone had a great Easter. We are all back in the saddle now at Live Music Management after a nice break (although of course with hundreds of party bands and DJs playing over the Easter holidays we were open to take emergency calls and deal with enquiries.)

For my first blog of this new term (!) I shall be featuring Brightside. I have blogged about this great four piece female fronted band before but I am choosing them for special attention today because they have a new video.

I can speak authoritively about Brightside having seen them live on a few occasions. They have great musicians and a fantastic female singer. Their set list is well chosen to appeal to a wide audience. They are professional and reliable.

Since posting this video we have had a big increase in the numbers of clients looking to hire Brightside for weddings and parties.

This is for good reason.

Brightside are one of the best value wedding bands in the South of England . They are worth considering for any events or parties you may be planning.

You can call the Live Music Management office on 08454 900515 for more details about this great function band.

Velvet Monkey TV Wedding Band

Friday, March 23rd, 2012
velvet monkey

velvet monkey

We had the pleasure of seeing the great wedding band Velvet Monkey last night on ITV’s “For Better Or Worse” documentary. They performed “Everybody Needs Somebody To Love” whilst the bride and groom , Charlotte and Tom, danced around in Blue Brothers hats andd their wedding finery.

Charlotte and Tom looked like a fun couple. Tom had proposed whilst wearing a leprachaun outfit and attempting to set a world record for leprachauns running the London marathon so I guess its no surprise that they chose a lively and fun party band for their wedding day.

Velvet Monkey offer a good value option for wedding parties in the Surrey area. They have a singer who plays keyboards so they offer an extra instrument which many four piece bands are not able to offer.

If you are looking for a great band for your party or wedding and fancy using a band who have a bit of TV glitterdust sprinkled on them then give the Live Music Management office a call on 08454 900515 or email info@lmmuk.com we should be able to help.

New Wedding Band

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

Todays blog features news of one of our new wedding bands. The band Fine Time were put together by an experienced session musician and party band leader in order to cater for discerning clients in the London and home counties looking for a great band with male vocals.

Though the band are new to LMMs books the members have all been playing in various line ups fr a few years and are very experienced in the wedding band market. They have also been lucky enough to have performed alongside the likes of Pulp , Westlife and Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters giving them experience beyond the reach of most wedding acts.

They chose their reportoire based on clients recomendations of the most popular songs to play at weddings and have a set list comprising of more than 200 songs  ranging from 1950s hits right through to current day anthems. They are even able to offer dinner jazz sets.

The band are available in various size line ups allowing total flexibility on cost and sound. The smallest line up is the three piece but they are available in a nine piece deluxe version with horn section , percussionist and female vocals. The standard line up is the four piece.

Brightside Party Band And Jesse Malin New York Rocker Reviews

Monday, November 28th, 2011
Jesse Malin at The Rescue Rooms

Jesse Malin at The Rescue Rooms

It’s been a weekend of contrasting gig attendances for the LMM team.

On Saturday night I popped into Sheffield Walkabout where DJ Lenny Sultana was holding court and party band Brightside were a brilliant last minute addition to the bill.

Sheffield Walkabout holds a great place in my affections being one of the first northern Walkabout bars to open (and  in my old home town at that.) I can remember sitting in the old church building prior to the venue opening with Steve the sound engineer discussing the tech spec and working out how all the equipment was going to be set up. Since then we have had hundreds (maybe thousands) of function bands playing on the stage. It was also the home, for a long time, of Bandeoke (aka Live band Karaoke or Rockaoke) in the North Of England.

On Saturday Brightside put on a great show with set opener “Sweet Home Alabama” giving way to Stay Tonight by Eagle Eyed Cherry before the band brought it bang up to date with Lady Ga Ga and other chart hits. Brightside have forged a reputation as a good value wedding band and Saturday showed just how versatile this band are. With a confident and exceptional female singer they had no trouble motivating the city centre crowd with their anthemic set and on the money musicianship. As ever Steve’s sound levels were brilliant. DJ Lenny who has a side line in mobile DJ work as well as his city centre shows proved himself to be a strong host and played some top tunes.

We finished our Sheffield Saturday in Dada which is a new edition to the Thornbridge Brewery empire in the site of the old Trippets Wine Bar on Trippet Lane. With a strong line up of beers and nice decor with a distinct Sheffield vibe (even down to Pete McKees signature on the wall) this is a welcome addition to the Sheffield bar scene.

Sunday night saw us at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham watching New York rocker Jesse Malin who is a hard working, touring singer cut from the Springsteen, Gaslight Anthem, Ryan Adams mould. He was playing one of his early albums (The Fine Art Of Self Destruction ) in it’s entirety. It was a brilliant, passionate show which suggested that this singer songwriter with his band of New York, leather clad bandmates should be way better known. Support from acts like Special Needs and New York singer songwriter Don D’Marto (???) made this a top value night out for lovers of melodic jangly rock music. Check out Jesse Malin and The St Marks Social when they pass through your town.

First Dance Songs At Weddings

First Dance Songs For Weddings

First Dance Songs For Weddings

“We hired Hat Trick to play at our wedding reception and they were brilliant! Played an excellent mix of music included a fantastic version of Power of Love by Huey Lewis for our first dance! Can’t recommend them highly enough!”

We often get asked if the wedding band can play a couples first dance song. The answer we give is the same for 99% of LMM bands. The band would be happy to learn your choice of first dance song providing it is something which they can do justice to. Sometimes the band need to play it in a rehearsal room in order to work out if they can play a good version of it but more often than not, if it is a well known song, they will be able to tell us straight away if they can play it for you.

In the last fifteen or so years of booking bands into weddings I can only recall a few occasions when the band have not been able to play the first dance live. Sometimes that has been because the song didn’t lend itself to being played live but there has been, on one occasion, a band who played a particular song in the rehearsal room and decided that it just didn’t sound right.

At the end of the day the first danceis a key part of your evening and it needs to be perfect. In the unlikely event of the band not being able to play the song live then they would be happy to announce the first dance and play a recorded version of it over the PA system.

For more information of first dance songs for weddings please call the LMM office and speak to one of the team 08454 900515
