Why Use An Agency For Your Wedding Entertainment?

Why Use an agency to book your wedding entertainment?

Why Use an agency to book your wedding entertainment?

As engaged couples break up for the Christmas holidays many of them will turn their attentions to their upcoming wedding and use the Christmas break to forward plan their wedding entertainment and other aspects of their wedding. If they are looking online for wedding entertainment ideas they will be met with a bewildering number of choices both with agencies and individual acts and many will start by asking “why use an agency for your wedding entertainment?”

It’s a fair question and one which I would like to take some time answering.

A quality wedding entertainment agency like Live Music Management add value to your wedding band or Deejay hire in many ways.

First of all we offer a quality control service. In all likelihood a private client will book entertainment once in a lifetime. Even many of our corporate clients only book entertainment once or twice per Anum. Live Music Management book literally thousands of shows per year. We vett all our acts. We keep record of their qualities and failings. We have our own showcase reports and customer testimonials as proof of quality.

It is important to state that there are acts playing at weddings and parties and commanding large fees which are not up to Live Music Managements standards. Some of them we have working with in our fifteen year history and been at the sharp end of their unreliability , ego problems or other issues. We do not offer these acts to you.

All Live Music Management acts meet with our high standards and we are proud of the quality of our function band roster. This alone is worth the cost of our commission but add to that the fact that you can often book a band cheaper by coming to a large agency like Live Music Management than going to the act direct (we give our acts hundreds of dates per annum and so have some bulk purchasing power.)

Further benefits of using an agency like Live Music Management for your wedding entertainment include

As one of the largest agencies in the UK Live Music Management offer 24 hour emergency cover (2 people on  all at any given time) in the event of you having any problems on the day of  the event etc.

Live Music Management are unparralled in   this service and it is one of the reasons why we are the only wedding band agency who also have regular clients (ie not one offs) booking entertainment  through us

For instance the Walkabout venues have been used over services for 15 years, Butlins  holiday parks have been booking bands from us for over seven years.

Should anything  go wrong we are best placed to offer you suitable replacements etc.

We hold all  deposits in a client account and don’t touch them until after the   show.

Your booking  with us is secure and you can rest assured that you are  dealing with a company chosen by industry professionals for their live music bookings (ie in November 2012  our bands were playing in 150 Marks and Spencer’s stores throughout the UK.)

Bookings are contracted by Agents Association contract and we have a rigorous system of  confirmations in place etc

Why use an agency for your wedding entertainment? In short because your wedding day is a one off and you need to ensure that it is perfect Live Music Management are able to help make the wedding entertainment memorable for all the right reasons. Call 08454 900515 or email info@lmmuk.com

Booking Free Wedding Entertainment

Booking free wedding entertainment

Booking free wedding entertainment

Bridal guide expert and author Sharon Naylor recently wrote a piece in The Huffington Post about wedding freebies outlining the items that she would recommend no Bride or Groom accept as freebies in order to cut down on costs at their wedding. She is an expert in her field and her book “The Brides guide to freebies.Enhancing your wedding without selling out” is a must have for the Bride on a budget.

Amongst the many areas she suggest that Brides and Grooms steer clear getting for free  if they wish to have a successful, stress free and memorable (for all the right reasons) wedding was free wedding entertainment.

The quote from her piece is below.

“6. Free Entertainment: Let your brother’s garage band stay in the garage. Only trained and experienced deejays and bands know how to read a crowd to adjust their playlist and keep the dance floor packed. They also have top technology with backup equipment to prevent any potential problems with the music.”

Live Music Management are not qualified to discuss the merits of getting family to do the catering at your wedding or getting auntie Doris to make your wedding dress but as entertainment agents with over fourteen years experience of booking cover bands and mobile DJs for weddings LMM have a great deal of expertise in the area of wedding entertainment.

A poor quality function band or terrible DJ can ruin your wedding reception and make all your other efforts forgettable. The music is such an important part of the wedding that it can dominate the proceedings. This is great when everyone is on the dance floor loving the sounds that the DJ is playing or singing along with the top quality live act you have booked but not good when people are sat holding their ears because the band is too loud or the DJ is playing music that doesn’t connect with them.

Booking free wedding entertainment comes at a price and that price is often too high for any discerning bride and groom to consider. Contact an agency like Live Music Management and allow them to suggest the best value live entertainment for your wedding. It is better to book a great quality DJ than a poor quality band, better by far to spend money on a wedding singer who can motivate and entertain your crowd than spend the same amount of money on a five piece band who simply aren’t up to Parr.

Live Music Management can’t help if you are planning on booking free wedding entertainment  but we are very well placed to offer you the best value act . Call 08454 900515 for further details.

Pop Up Musicians-A Cross Between A Flash Mob And Singing Waiters

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

Earlier today I was trying to explain to a client how the Pop Up Musicians concept works. The best description I could come up with when I was on the spot was that Pop Up Musicians were like a cross between a flash mob and singing waiters.

I first came across Singing Waiters in Las Vegas almost twenty years ago in an Italian Restaurant that had become renowned for it’s waiting staff bursting into pop opera classics and Dean Martin tunes in between serving pasta and pizza dishes.Since then it’s transferred to the UK event and wedding market and there are dozens of acts offering Singing Waiter sets to differing standard (some amazing, some mediocre and some appalling.) Live Music Management have a number of singers who can offer this service (we like to think of our acts as being at the amazing rather than mediocre end of the scale!) but we wanted to add something extra to this already popular entertainment offer.

Picture this as a potential scenario for your wedding or event with Pop Up Musicians

A mystery guest is sat at table five. He chats away with your other guests and then after the starters have been served he leans under the table and picks up a saxophone. The guests are dazzled and delighted by his playing but shortly after a waiter comes into the room picks up a guitar from behind the curtains and begins playing along, singing as he does. Now there is something happening on both sides of the room. Another waiter pops out of the serving area. He is carrying a pot and pan and drum sticks. He begins to sing and play a steady rhythm. Now everyone in the room is standing up to be thrilled by the event but it doesn’t end there a Sousaphone player walks into the room and plays the bass lines on his Sousaphone.

This is a Pop Up Musician event- a cross between a flash mob and singing waiters, perfect wedding or event entertainment from Live Music Management see the scene from Love Actually for a vision of how it is done at it’s best!

LMM Give Talk In School On Music Industry Careers

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

wedding band

I was invited into a local school yesterday in order to give careers advice to year 9s considering their options beyond the school gates. I was very pleased to be amongst the bank worker, soldier and many more able to give an hour of their time to talk about their chosen professions.

My personal path to becoming an entertainment agent was as follows

1.played music in parents pub from age 14

2.Set up band at 17 and went on to make two records, appear on tv a few times and play hundreds of gigs but never make any money.

3. Play in band with song writers who went onto write for Take That and Spice Girls…but still make little money!

3. Set up next band. Make one record and write two songs featured in Sean Bean movie “When Saturday Comes”..make little money!!

4.Set up covers band and start getting paid.

Eventually I end up taking over the bands bookings and moving onto booking other acts, nightclub  DJs and party bands which leads to me working at Live Music Management.

In yesterdays talk I tried to give a general idea of the careers available in the music industry from DJing and work for musicians through to promoting and events organising .

I hope the students found it useful. I certainly would have valued a similiar talk at their age when I was unsure of anything other my burning desire to make music.

It’s great to be able to mentor young people and talk about your own work experiences and I would encourage anyone with the opportunity to do this to volunteer.

plan b party band

Most pop fans have now heard of cockney rap/soul crossover act Plan B after their last album (The Defamation Of Strickland Banks) sold bucketloads but before Plan B there was Plan B-The Party Band.

Fronted by a livewire, high energy Australian female singer with a great voice and infectious personality Plan B have been playing venues around London and beyond for the last seven or eight years. Live Music Management have booked them into the Walkabout bars for a number of years and they have played at hundreds of weddings and parties. They are a favourite of one of our overseas clients and this weekend completed their tenth tour of Romania playing some club dates in upmarket venues. As per usual the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

If you are looking for a female fronted rock pop party band for a wedding or event and you are,in particular, looking for a band that are able to play many of the big pop hits of the past few years as well as selected tracks from the past then its The Plan B Party Band that you need

Vintage wedding band The Mocking Birds

As an entertainment agency supplying bands and DJs to weddings throughout the UK we often supply live acts to weddings with a vintage theme. Vintage in the wedding industry has come to mean anything retro and many brides and grooms choose different history periods to theme their wedding around or simply pick and mix from different eras to create an interesting vintage theme.

Many of our wedding bands have played vintage weddings where they have picked up little tips and ideas and in todays blog we thought we would share these with you along with a few vintage wedding entertainment ideas

Electric Mayhem Etc Defy The Weather Gods

Sunday, December 5th, 2010

The weather has created some big challenges for many of our live bands and DJs this week but as the start of the Christmas entertainment season coincided with the sudden arctic conditions our function bands and mobile DJs rose to the challenge.

Alan Fletcher, AKA Neighbours star Dr Karl Kennedy, has been touring the UK with fantastic party band Lucas and managed to brave the snow in order to get to the Walkabout venues throughout the UK where he was booked to perform. The many students and other fans who witnessed his performances so far this week have been blessed with a great show made all the more special for the extraordinary lengths that both the band and the sound engineers had to go to in order to make the events happen.

We have had DJs digging cars out to get to gigs (in some cases picking up other DJs who were stranded at home by the snow) and bands setting off ridiculously early in order to provide that special wedding entertainment or Christmas party music.

All of our nightclub acts (both live bands and DJs) managed to make their shows despite the weather.

But off all the entertainers making special efforts this week I think first prize must go to Electric Mayhem who made a gruelling cross Europe trip by van in order to play at a Christmas ball over in Germany. The snow in Europe wasn’t much better than before the got on the ferry but they soldiered on and made the gig and everyone had a great time.

LMM would like to officially thank all our acts for their proffessionalism and for their determination in making their bookings a success….I know how difficult this weather has been myself as I have spent all day digging out my car and trudging to the supermarket with a sledge to caryy my groceries back on!!

Enjoy the Electric Mayhem video….they really are a great band.If you are looking for a band for an event or wedding then look no further.

Great Bands and Solos for weddings

Great Bands and Solos for weddings

The sun is shining and the emails are pouring in from the hundreds of satisfied LMM clients who have booked bands from us for weddings and parties which have taken place in the past few weeks.

This blog was inspired by the email highlighted below which was from a recent client who enquired with us about a band for her wedding.I have posted a few more recent email testimonials from clients on this page with links to the bands they were emailing about.

“Thank you so much for the great information, seriously the best service I’ve had throughout this entire wedding planning process.”

Please thank Plan b for performing here last night. The numbers attending where lower than anticipated, however the band were exactly what we were looking for and Aloma’s vocals were outstanding. I didn’t get a chance to speak to them at the end of the night so please pass on my thanks.
