Top Tips For A Party In The Rain!

You don’t need me to tell you that Summer 2012 in the UK has been a wash out so far with persistent rain almost every day for the last three months. Those of you who have been to an outdoor concert or festival or even planned a garden party or wedding outside will have struggled with the cold and the rain.

Last Saturday I attended an outdoor birthday party in Sheffield. The rain poured down all day.Luckily the hosts had erected two waterproof gazebos and had hired an industrial heater which, just about, made the party warmish.Even so by 9pm the hosts had to bring out blankets for the more nesh (Sheffield word describing people who feel the cold) amongst the party goers.

So my top tips if you are holding a party or wedding outdoors this year are as follows

1.Weather proof marquees or gazebos are a must.

2.Industrial heaters are needed.

3.Have a few car rugs handy for those in need of a blanket.

4.Advice people to bring some warm clothes…by 9pm the hosts had brought out every hoodie and coat they possessed to hand out to the guests.

5. If you have booked a party band or any musicians make sure their equipment will be in a dry area and resting on ground which will not get wet if there is a massive downpour.

It was Creedence Clearwater Revival who sang the song “Who’ll Stop The Rain” and, okay,it was a metaphor for the Vietnam War rather than a song about the weather but in view of the rain pouring down outside the office window it was pertinent that the song came on the Ipod on random shuffle. The weather forecast suggests that this rain is in to stay and so we need to get used to it. I am attending an out door gig myself tonight when I pop along to see 10cc playing in the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield.

My top tip? I have just packed a hip flask full of whisky!
