Act profile

Fronted by the dynamic Gaz and the sultry Barbara , Funktion features five of the best musicians on the current live circuit.
Their collective experience as professional musicians is astonishing.

Gaz honed his craft in Birmingham, where he played in legendary venues such as ICC and The Jamhouse, aswell as performing for the BBC, Channel 4, Intel and BMW.
In 2005 Gaz was invited to take part in the annual Jeff Buckley tribute concert in Chicago. He has played alongside such well known artists as Pete Doherty and Georgie Fame, and is currently Pimlico Acadamy's principle guitar and bass tutor.

Barbara began her career at a very young age, with her first professional performance aged 11 in Milan.
Whilst in Italy she released her acclaimed debut album and garnered a fine reputation for her passionate voice and versatility through Contemporary Gospel, Pop and Jazz, aswell as Musical Theatre.
Now based in London, where she studied Jazz and Improvisation at Goldsmith's University, Barbara is a consumate professional and is attracting a lot of attention as an exciting and talented performer.

London born guitarist, Ben, grew up around music and musicians, as his Dad was a session drummer at Abbey Road Studios.
Since taking up the guitar at the age of 12, he has grown up to become a published songwriter and session player with several album credits to his name, and has worked extensively across Europe and the USA, playing everywhere from restaurants and dive bars, to mental institutions and performance halls.

Tom started on the piano at the age of 7.
A child prodigy, he earned his Bachelor Of Music Degree from the London College Of Music under the guidance of composer Kit Turnball and Jazz Musician Eddy Harvey.
He gained Yamaha certified music teacher status in 2003, and has become an in demand piano tutor and session player throughout the UK and Ireland. He has recorded accompaniments for Spartan Press Publications and is also the chief conductor of the Burnham Music Group.

Cheeky Glaswegian drummer, Marc, is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College Of Music in Boston, USA.
After being awarded a full scholarship when he was 16 he went on to study at Leeds College, where he received his BA (hons) Jazz Studies.
Although his roots are in Jazz and Modern Pop, he has vast experience playing with Indian Ensembles, Metal Bands, Cruise Ship Lounge Acts and has even done a stint in the Danish Circus.
Marc has also recently been recognized as the most popular drum tutor in the UK.

I saw these guys performing at my sons wedding and I was so impressed that I just had to have them play at my birthday party.
They were so professional and played all the Motown requests that I wanted. I thought it was such a great idea that the band gave me the option to pick my own songs. I can’t recommend them highly enough and everyone that came to my party loved them just as much as I did. The price brackets above should be used as a guide only as all quotes are bespoke.

Performance times for most acts except Tributes and some other Unique performers are usually 2 x 60 minute sets or 3 x 40 min sets.

(If you require the act to perform longer than these times you may incur extra costs.)

Travel costs vary depending on the act and will be included to the quote given to you by our agents.

Our acts would usually expect to arrive around 6pm and to be finished around midnight.

(If you need the act to arrive earlier or finish later there may be extra costs but these can be negotiated.)
