Act profile

Singer/pianist Ruth Applin, has a wealth of experience performing at all types of venues, from top hotels and restaurants to weddings, corporate functions and events and private parties.

She has played at many notable venues throughout the capital, including The Ritz Hotel, The Lanesborough, The Spice of Life. Ruth has also appeared at festivals and venues throughout the UK including Manchester Jazz Festival and West Buckland Festival to great acclaim, aswell as in Europe.

Her rich vocals and sensitive piano-playing are reminiscent of the great singer/pianists like Nat ‘King’ Cole, Nina Simone and Diana Krall, and have entertained audiences around the UK, providing anything from an intimate background ambience, to a more upbeat swing style for a party atmosphere.

Ruth began her professional career after graduating from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she was able to work with notable musicians such as Pete Churchill, Lee Gibson, Tina May, Anita Wardell and Norma Winstone.

Ruth and her band of first-class musicians, can provide a bespoke ensemble according to the requirements of the occasion. She can perform solo vocals/piano, through to a duo, trio, quartet or quintet. Typical instrumentation could include any combination of Ruth’s piano and vocals with saxophone, guitar, double bass and drums.

Performing her own unique arrangements of great standards from Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, including Ratpack, Swing, Ballad and Bossa Nova styles, Ruth and her band are guaranteed to add sophistication and style to any event.

Also included

Ruth has a high quality electric piano and PA system that has provided the sound for events attended by up to 200 people.
