Act profile

Shola is one of the few female singers doing an all-Motown tribute. With her 3-octave vocal range she can belt out songs from not only the girl groups but also from artists like The Temptations, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.

The show comes with a variety of different options. If you’d like a 2-set performance, the first set can contain Motown standards, or a Diana Ross mini tribute. Or if, for example, you’d like some mellow music during a sit-down dinner, Shola can provide a jazz set. The second set will then be Shola’s trademark “Motown Party” set, put together to get people on the dance floor for a good boogie.

Onstage, Shola has all the grace, glitz and glamour of a true diva. She performs wearing beautiful, custom-designed evening gowns and truly looks the part with her graceful silhouette, lovely smile, beehive hairdo and diamante jewellery. She can also slip into a mini dress and go-go boots for a more casual look and loves to “get down” during the party numbers. The stage is set using a deep red custom backdrop, designed especially for Shola, which helps to create a great atmosphere.

Her vocals have been described as sounding like “chocolate soul” and she has a big voice that attracts positive feedback wherever she sings. With a warm, inviting stage presence and charming persona, it’s hard not to be enthralled by her performance.

A favourite part of the show is when Shola invites two of the audience up on stage to be “The Supremes”. They’re given their own microphones and tambourines and Shola runs through a dance routine with them before the “backing singers” perform a song with her. It certainly gives everyone a night to remember!

She spent eight years living in the USA and worked with one of the world's top vocal coaches, Seth Riggs (he’s coached Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross). Shola has sung at gigs supporting stars like Paul Young and Tony Hadley at top venues such as Shepherd’s Bush Empire and Hyde Park, and has entertained at many weddings, parties and corporate functions in front of audiences as large as 15,000. She has also performed overseas in New York and Los Angeles.

Two PAs available - smaller PA for gigs up to 150 people use Yamaha Stagepas 500. Larger gigs use 5000W HK PA. LIghting rig - 4 par cans with a variety of floor spots.

South East based and will travel to these areas: South East, South West, Midlands, Wales.

Performance times for most acts except Tributes and some other Unique performers are usually 2 x 60 minute sets or 3 x 40 min sets.

(If you require the act to perform longer than these times you may incur extra costs.)

Travel costs vary depending on the act and will be included to the quote given to you by our agents.

Our acts would usually expect to arrive around 5.30pm and to be finished around midnight.

(If you need the act to arrive earlier or finish later there may be extra costs but these can be negotiated.)
