Civil Wedding Music

The law in the UK was changed back in 1995 in order to allow civil weddings in approved venues and since then the popularity of civil cermonies has increased to such an extent that in 2012 over 50% of all marriage ceremonies in the UK were of a non religious nature. The use of religious music is banned in civil ceremonies but the law was relaxed a little in 2005 to allow songs which may mention religious imagery but aren't hymns. The best examples of this being songs like Robbie Williams Angels or The Beach Boys God Only Knows which would be allowed as they are secular tunes which use religious imagery rather than religious songs. There is still some confusion about what is and isn't allowed and it always best to check with your civil wedding venue before choosing the music.

Musicians For A Civil Wedding Ceremony Entrance

There are a number of key elements in a civil ceremony which suggest the use of musicians and civil wedding music often benefits from being played live. The Brides entrance is a moment in the day when it is possible to create a real wow factor by the judicious choice of the right song along with a brilliant musician to play it. There a number of classical pieces which have become associated with the Brides entrance including Wagners wedding march, Handels Air From The Water Music etc. All of these pieces are ideal played by piano or string sections. Increasingly Brides are choosing more personal pieces for their entrance including pop songs like Elbow's One Day Like This. These can be played by classical musicians but may also be suited to solo guitar player, acoustic duos or even small bands.

Civil Ceremony Music For The Signing Of The Register

During the signing of the registry there is an opportunity for the use of music which will create a beautiful atmosphere at your civil wedding. Many clients choose music which is personal to them and holds great memories for this part of their special day. At civil ceremonies it is possible to play recorded versions of your choice of songs but the day will be even better with live musicians playing the music of your choice. Live Music Management have classical, jazz and pop musicians available for hire for your civil ceremony.

Making The Most Of Your Civil Ceremony Musicians

If booking musicians to perform at a civil ceremony Live Music Management would suggest utlising them at other parts of the day in order to get best value from your musicians. It may be that they can also play during a drinks reception or whilst photographs are being taken. It may even be that the musicians can be used during the wedding party in the evening as some of Live Music Management's most versatile musicians are able to play party sets as well as background music sets.
